Three Filipino films will take part in 62nd Cannes Film Festival

The lineup of the 62nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival was announced earlier today, April 23. Brillante “Dante” Mendoza has once again entered into the festival’s prestigious Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) competition via his entry titled Kinatay (the Execution of P).

In a text message sent to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Direk Dante revealed that his action-thriller film has been invited to compete in the 2009 Cannes Film Fest. Previously titled Chop Chop, this film is based on victims whose body parts have been chopped off and mutilated by killers.

I hope this will open new doors for the philippine movies. This shows that philippine movies are internationally acclaimed and has great quality.
