When an interview to Ruffa Gutierrez, Derek was asked if he think Angelica Panganiban, her current girlfriend is his everlasting love, he simply answered “Yes”. He also confirmed that he his planning to come to the World Cup next year at Johannesburg, South Africa with Angelica. “That’s why I’m working hard. That’s my motivation to work right now. I want her to experience how it is to be in an atmosphere where the whole world is one, cheering together,” he stated.

Derek was too busy because of a lot of projects comming in his way. He belong to a primetime teleserye, “The Wedding” with Anne Curtis and Zanjoe Marudo. And he was also a leading man to the upcoming teleserye, “Habang May Buhay” with Judy Ann Santos. Aside form that, he and Toni Gonzaga was starting to shoot the one of the presentation of “Precious Hearts Romances” at ABS-CBN. He was also proud about the text messages that he recieves from those who saw the movie “And I Love you So” with Bea Alonzo and Sam Milby that will be premiere on August 12, 2009. “They had a private viewing of the film and everybody has been texting how great the movie is. The whole movie teaches you na dapat hindi ka matakot to fall in love again and again” he said, pointing to the meaning of the movie. And he also said that he also felt that fear in terms of love.  “Sobrang I don’t use those words likely. I love you is like the ultimate thing you can say to a woman when you are in love, so I’m very careful when I use those three words,” he started. “Right now I am in love and I use them all the time.” he is referring to his girlfriend Angelica. Derek and Angelica was having a movie with Kim Chui and Gabby Concepcion for its comeback movie after 13 years.

Derek and Angelica is now 3 years in their relationship. As that long, we can say that Derek really love Angelica. And who knows, he was planning to be with Angelica forever. I was referring to a marriage. We can not say what will happened to them. All we can do is to wait for the next news from them.
