Back to Back Pinoy Talents: Jun Gamboa and Thia Megia on American Idol and Charice on Tokio HOT 100 Award

After the Maria Aragon was recognized by the international singer Lady Gaga, two Filipinos are again proving the world that pinoys are talented.

On the previous seasons of American Idol we’ve seen Filipinos that tried to be the next American Idol but unfortunately didn’t make it. Jasmine Trias was the first Pinoy to reach the farthest so far. She made it to the top 3.

During the auditions for the latest season of American Idol, 2 Filipinos got through to the top 24.

Clint Jun Gamboa and Thia Megia were announced included in the top 12 male and 12 female on February 25′s episode of American Idol.

Gamboa is a karaoke host from Long Beach, california. He sang Billionaire by Bruno Mars during his first audition. The three judges were impressed by his voice and gave him 3 yeses.

While Thia Megia is a 15-year-old student who flew from Mountain House california just to audition on the reality show. She sang “Chasing Pavements” by Adele. She also got three yeses from the judges.

American Idol is hosted by Ryan Seacrest, with judges:  Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler,  and Jennifer Lopez

The show can be watched at Q Channel 11 and Star World every Thursdays and Fridays.

Meanwhile another Filipino pride singing sensation Charice Pempengco received an award on Tokio HOT 100 award according to her mom Raquel Pempengco. The young singer beating popular international artists like Ke$ha, Orianthi, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber who were also nominated in the Best New Artist category.

Tokio HOT 100 award is one of the major awards in Japan’s music industry.
