Maria Aragon, a ten-year old Fil-Canadian singer, is now part of an HTC commercial being shown abroad.
The commercial makes references to popular websites such as Twitter and Foursquare by stating: “You are the next Trending Topic” and the “You are the next mayor of this bar.”
It also pays tribute to the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world’s ocean, by stating: “You could be the next leader.”
When the statement, “You are the next sensation,” is said on the commercial, Maria is shown playing the keyboards while singing the lines “When I get older / I will be stronger” from the song “Wavin’ Flag” by K’Naan.
Last February, the ten-year-old Fil-Canadian singer shared a video of herself singing a cover of Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”
The video eventually caught the attention of pop singer Lady Gaga who was overwhelmed by the performance of the ten-year old girl and even re-tweeted a link of the video. Maria’s video reached 28 million views in six weeks and to date, it has been viewed over 35 million times on the video-sharing site.
On March 3, Maria joined Lady Gaga in her concert at the Air Canada Centre where they both performed “Born This Way.” Maria played the piano keys while Lady Gaga worked on the pedals as tears streamed down her face.
