The international singer and actress Lea Salonga is set to be one of the seven judges of the 60th Miss Universe pageant according to the announcement made by the Miss Universe Organization yesterday, headed by its president Paula M. Shugart and NBC Universal Head Donald J. Trump.
“I’m not even in Sao Paolo yet and it’s already very exciting. It felt really good to be asked and feels even better that there are wonderful people in that same line up,” Lea said during an interview with ABS-CBN News yesterday.
“I’m hoping that she (Shamcey) does well so if I give her a high score, she’ll deserve it,” she added as she vowed to be fair in giving the candidates’ scores even with the belief that 2011 Bb. Pilipinas-Unviverse Shamcey Supsup will do her best. With regards to questions she will be asking to the contestants, this is her reply, “I have a long plane ride to think about this question.” She also mentioned of leaving the country, for the beauty pageant, this Sunday.
Together with Lea Salonga in the judges line up are Helios Castroneves (three-time Indianapolis 500 champion), Connie Chung (American broadcast legend), Isabeli Fontana (Brazilian Supermodel), Vivica Fox (actress/television producer), Adrienne Maloof (of hit series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and Amelia Vega (Miss Universe 2003).
The pageant’s hosts are Andy Cohen of Bravo’s Watch What Happens: Live, Natalie Morales NBC’s The Today Show, along with Jeannie Mai of Style Network’s How Do I Look and Shandi Finnessy, Miss USA 2004.
The performers are Bebel Gilberto (Granmy-nominated singer/songwriter) and Claudia Leitte (Brazilian native pop singer).
The big event will be held at Credicard Hall, Sao Paulo, Brazil, on September 12 with live broadcast on ABS-CBN this September 13, 9:30 AM. The pageant’s exclusive double primetime telecast will be aired at 7 PM and 10 PM on Velvet Channel.
