This year’s Miss Universe 3rd runner-up Shamcey Supsup has finally made her way back home. She arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 yesterday, about 6.30 in the morning, from Los Angeles through flight PR 103 of Philippine Airlines.
Many fans, airport employees and Binibining Pilipinas officials awaited her arrival in the airport. When she arrived in Manila, she directly headed to the VIP Lounge and thanked everyone who came to the airport to welcome her. “I’m glad to be back home after more than a month of being away. I so miss the Philippines. Thank you for being here for welcoming me,” she said. She also expressed her gratitude to all Filipinos who supported her during the Miss Universe pageant.
Later on, Shamcey is scheduled for a courtesy call to President Benigno Aquino III at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport VIP lounge at 9.30 in the evening.
The courtesy call is then confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda through radio dzRB. “Certainly it’s an occasion for the President to meet her. We are proud of her accomplishment. It’s a personal opportunity for the President to congratulate her,” he said. However, he said that the courtesy call is not open to media but they had collaborated with MIAA’s General Manager Jose Honrado if there is a solution to the problem concerning the media coverage.
The Presidential Spokesperson also said that the Palace is pleased with Shamcey’s Miss Universe 3rd Runner-Up win in the prestigious beauty pageant. “Oo naman nakapasok lang sa top 15, it’s a feat… Hindi lang siya maganda, matalinong representante pa siya,” he said.
Edwin Lacierda also mentioned about what the Palace thinks on the possibility of having Shamcey in promoting Philippine tourism. “Puwede nating kausapin si Sec. Mon Jimenez tungkol diyan. Siya na ang bahala but she’s definitely an asset,” he added.
Furthermore, a ticker tape parade is going to be held today in Makati City for our beloved Shamcey Supsup to take a visit to her high school alma mater, Makati High School, from where she graduated as salutatorian last 2003. Other congratulatory activities will be in Cainta Rizal, General Santos City, UP Diliman, and the Araneta Center.
