She rose to fame for donning different clothes and using make up to change her looks. But after being hailed as the country’s Cosplay Queen, 25-year old Alodia Gosiengfiao is now ready to embark on a new adventure as she leads a pop group in Japan.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Gosiengfiao shared that she was discovered in Singapore by a Japanese music producer who was judging a cosplay competition. Since then, Gosiengfiao has already recorded an album in Japan.
She said she had to learn how to speak Nihongo for her album, although she also recorded English versions of the songs.
“Actually, I sing in secret (laughs). I sing mostly Japanese songs, at home or sometimes in events but kasi mostly here in the Philippines, mostly birit. It’s hard to compete with that,” she said.
Gosiengfiao also showed ABS-CBN News the music video shoot of her J-pop girl group Super Dolls, which features two popular Japanese cosplayers.
“It’s a great honor but sobrang napre-pressure ako kasi syempre we have a lot of talented singers and talented artist here in the Philippines,” she said.
Aside from being a cosplayer, Gosiengfiao also hosts, acts and endorses products alongside popular celebrities in the Philippines. Recently, Gosiengfiao was named one of the ambassadors for the cable channel Animax Asia. She was also a co-host of the ABS-CBN show “Laugh Out Loud” and appeared in the Star Cinema movie “The Reunion.”
