What’s ‘pinaka’ about Rovilson?

UntitledMANILA, Philippines – There’s never a dull moment or even a dead air when Rovilson Fernandez starts to speak up. He’s so spontaneous he could probably talk for hours on end without boring his listeners. His funny antics could also give stand-up comedians a run for their money.

And Q-11 just made the right move: Take Rovilson in as the new host of Ang Pinaka after Pia Guanio bid the show goodbye years back.

“That was bittersweet. I like the show and on top of that Pia and I are friends. We worked together in Lakbay TV,” Rovilson shares. “I know she likes the show as well but I guess they’re moving in a new direction,” adds Rovilson who became a household name when he competed in The Amazing Race Asia with Marc Nelson.

But did you know Rovilson never thought he would be hosting a TV show? He was content in his publishing job as executive editor of Maxim. But the chance to do something bigger and more exciting knocked on his door after his stint in the reality show.

“All that I’ve been doing now is a dream come true. I never would have thought I’d be a TV host. All my life, I’ve been practising to be behind the camera and to be in production. Right now I’m having fun with this. It’s a new learning experience.”

Darna Flies Higher

darna

MANILA, Philippines – Darna, as proven by its high ratings since it aired last year, is consistently exceeding expectations. Darna fanatics should get ready for more action and drama with the return of Gabriel (Alfred Vargas) and Roma (Nadine Samonte), and to find out if Serpina (Katrina Halili) or Zandro (Paolo Contis) will end up as her ultimate nemesis.

As the finale nears for Darna, its loyal viewers continue to tune in to find out how the love story of Narda and the lighthearted yet principled policeman Pancho (Dennis Trillo) will end.

During the set visit last Jan. 27, Marian clarifies the issue regarding her rumored transfer to another station, “I want to clear this out, wala pong lipatan, I’m very grateful to GMA 7 at lahat po naman ay ibinibigay nila, lagi akong may trabaho, wala na kong mahihiling pa.”

For Marian, Dennis, Nadine and Paolo, meeting televiewers’ expectations on Darna is more than a good sign that their hard work is paying off.

“Marami pang kaabang-abang na scenes ang dapat n‘yong abangan, samahan nyo po kami hanggang sa huling gabi ng Darna,” Dennis and Marian state.

Bong, Vic star in 2010 Metrofest pic

UntitledSen. Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto are finalizing negotiations for their first starrer together, to be titled Enteng Agimat, which is intended for the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival.

The movie is a potential blockbuster considering that Bong’s and Vic’s starrers, Ang Panday and Ang Darling Kong Aswang, finished No. l and No. 2 grossers in the 2009 Metro Filmfest. Bong initially planned to do another Panday for this year’s Metro Filmfest but he scrapped it due to lack of time.

He’s set to start campaigning for reelection and, he said, “Maraming requirements ang pelikula and we won’t be able to meet the Metro Filmfest playdate.” With his and Bong’s joint project (presumably under their own companies, Bong’s Imus Productions and Vic’s M-ZET Productions in association with OctoArts Films as he did with Darling), Vic must be putting on hold his plan to do another Enteng Kabisote also for the 2010 Metro Filmfest. Like Panday, the Enteng franchise is a consistent Metro Filmfest moneymaker.

Showtime returns on air after suspension

UntitledShowtime returns on air today  January 19 after seven days of being suspended byMovie and Television Review and Classification Board(MTRCB).

“ABS-CBN is happy to announce that the talent-variety program Showtime will return on-air starting tomorrow, 19 Jan 2010, following the issuance of a temporary restraining order by the Court of Appeals enjoining the MTRCB from continuing to enforce the preventive suspension order on the show.

“We welcome the CA resolution dated 15 January 2010, which states: ‘For reasons afore-stated, and as prayed for by petitioner, let a TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER be issued, as it is hereby issued, effective sixty (60) days from notice hereof, enjoining respondent MTRCB, including any and all persons acting in their behalf and under their command and authority, from continuing to enforce the Preventive Suspension Order dated January 11, 2010 issued against petitioner, pending the resolution of the instant petition.’”

Showtime’s suspension resulted after guest judge Rosanna Roces made a comment about teachers after one member of a group contestant failed to answer her question about National Hero Jose Rizal on its January 7 live episode.

The MTRCB also explained that this incident was already the second violation of the celebrity judge. The show was also warned about Rosanna’s remark about Showtime‘s resident judge Vice Ganda on its January 4 live episode.

Cristine Reyes admits sending hate text message about Heart Evangelista before

Untitled

“I think meron yatang nagte-text ulit sa kanya ngayon. So, I don’t know kung pinagbibintangan niya ako or something. Sana i-make sure lang natin na ako talaga yun. Ngayon, idine-deny ko kasi hindi naman po talaga. Pero yung before ako, totoo, ako talaga yun. Pero hindi ko nga siya directly tinext. Ang tinext ko si Rufa Mae,” paliwanag niya.

So, si Rufa Mae ang nagpadala kay Heart ng hate message niya?

“Oo. Yun totoo talaga yun,” sagot ni Cristine. “Hindi ko naman dine-deny yun, e. Pero yung ngayon, hindi porke’t nangyari yun before, ako ulit yung ngayon, di ba? So, huwag naman tayong magbintang.”
