P127-M Copyright Case against Willie Revillame

ABS-CBN network has filed a copyright infringement case against the estranged talent Willie Revillame, his company Wil Productions, Inc., and the president of his new home network, TV5′s Ray Espinosa.

The network signed the complaint at the Makati Regional Trial Court last November 24, stating that the parties in question “deliberately and intentionally imitated ‘Wowowee,’” a top-rating noontime show which Revillame previously hosted on ABS-CBN, thereby violating section 172.2 of the Intellectual Property Code.

The format of the new show Willing Willie is disturbingly of the same format that of the previous show Wowowee. Even their production numbers, games like Big Time Ka and Willtime Bigtime, the lighting, camera angles, studio audience seat layout and down to the stage and set design are all strikingly similar to Wowowee, thus “stealing” the goodwill that Wowowee has built over the past 5 years of airing in ABS-CBN.

A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the airing of Willing Willie is now being asked from the court. Previous TROs we’re dismissed by the Quezon City Regional Trail Court, under the sala of Judge Luisito Cortez, as well as the Court of Appeals. The network is hoping that this time, the TRO will be filed successfully.

PNoy’s Early Valentine

Our own President Noynoy Aquino is said to come back to the country on Monday with “a little bomb”, according to a resource agent of a local news paper. There was a “casual admission” that yes, he is pursuing his stylist, Liz Uy, who was introduced to him by his sister Kris Aquino. Liz also happens to be Kris’s stylist before.

After the break up with Valenzuela’s City Councilor Shalani Soledad, who is now a co-host of Willie Revilleme in a show on TV5, the President has been seen having dinner with Liz whose last known celebrity boyfriend was John Lloyd Cruz. It was also reported that one time, Pnoy visited the set of his sister Kris’ and nephew Baby James’ Nido commercial to see not them but Liz who was also there for 2o minutes.

Of course, Kris has been vocally in favor of Liz for her brother. She once stated to the media that Filipinos should be happy cause PNoy is inspired to work. “She comes from a stable and religious family,” Kris told Funfare. “Her parents have been married for 33 years. They go to church together every Sunday,” very much like the Aquinos who are also very religious. “Liz and Noy share a birthday, Feb. 18,” added Kris who has been giving Liz branded gifts (shoes, bags, etc). “She’s wife material.”

Need I say more? Apparently, the sister is in favor of Liz which will surely give hopes to PNoy to really pursue her. Well, I don’t see it a bad thing really. I think it’s romantic. The more inspired our President is, the more driving force he has to work on the country’s problems. Looks like PNoy is having an early Valentine on a Christmas Season. Very romantic don’t you think?

Steward on Paquiao-Margarito: Too Fast, Too Furious

“Even though (Pacquiao)’s physically much smaller, I think he’s going to just be too much for Margarito,” Steward said in an exclusive discussion with US-based On the Ropes Boxing Radio.

66-year-old Steward became known for training boxers in the renowned Michigan-based Kronk Gym, which he fronted the “Save the Kronk” campaign for in 1998.

Steward said the 7-title holder, who is 5’7″ in height and has now weight down to 148 pounds, is swifter against 5’11” Margarito.

“Even though (Margarito) has a physical advantage, I just don’t think he’s going to be sharp enough to deal with the speed and accuracy and pinpoint punching of Manny,” he said.

Paquiao is also said to be a “special, special machine”. The trainer seems to have fun in giving Manny different titles himself.

Alongside being a Filipino lightweight boxer, Manny has a big chance in winning over Margarito. Should he beat him, he will become the first boxer who won 8 world titles in 8 divisions.

We say, go beat him Manny! Make us real proud! Go for the 8th!
