Kris reiterates promise to ‘behave,’ boost Noy’s morale

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has determined her new “role in life”: To raise her brother, President-elect Noynoy’s spirits especially during tough times.

“When you’re president, ang dami-daming batikos so, paminsan-minsan kailangan mo ring marinig na you’re doing a good job, most especially galing doon sa totoong nagmamahahal sa’yo. And ako, I’m really a positive person,” said Kris during a live TV interview on June 9, a few hours after her brother’s proclamation.

And how has she carried out her, well, duties so far?

“Like kapag feeling ko ang ganda ng speech niya, ang ganda ng pagkasagot niya, tine-text ko siya kaagad. Kapag feeling ko pogi siya that day, nagte-text din ako kasi kailangan naman talagang may balance tayo,” she related on “TV Patrol World” that same day.

The ever-controversial actress-TV host also reiterated her earlier promise that she will now “behave.”

“From this day forward magiging obedient na ko sa kanya (Noy).”

Kris, along with her sisters Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, Pinky Aquino-Abellada and Viel Aquino-Dee, will be what anchor Ted Failon dubbed as “konsensya ng bayan;” the ones who will tell all to Noy including the “bad news.”

“Pangulo na siya ngayon, kaya lahat kami ay bow sa kanya. Pero sabi nga niya kailangan niya ng magsasabi sa kanya kung merong mga katiwalian na hindi umaabot sa kanya. ‘Pag pangulo ka na kasi, mahirap, ‘yung ibang tao hindi masabi sa’yo ‘yung mga pangit na balita, ‘yung mga bad news. Inaasahan niya na kami ang magsasabi sa kanya,” said Ballsy.

Meanwhile, Kris pleaded the public to give her “The Buzz” and “Showbiz News Ngayon” co-host Boy Abunda a break. Note that Boy, whom Kris considers her best friend, has been a target of criticism since Noy divulged contemplating on making him the next Department of Tourism secretary.

“I really want to put a close to the topic already kasi naaawa ako sa best friend ko sa dami ng mga batikos na tinanggap niya. Inamin ko naman ‘yun sa ‘The Buzz’ na sa akin nagsimula, pero alam mo nagsimula at nagwakas ang usapan between Boy at Noynoy. Unfortunately in an interview, nabanggit ni Noynoy ang pangalan ni Boy even after the initial talks already died down.

“So let’s give Boy a break kasi hindi naman niya tinanggap, hindi natuloy, and alam ko rin naman talaga na marami ang naninindigan at nagsabi din na merong maitutulong si Boy Abunda sa ating bayan,” she said.

Should Noynoy appoint celebrities to be part of his much-awaited Cabinet lineup or to any other government position, Kris said “it’s ultimately [his] decision;” a statement that seemingly puts to rest the observations that she has an influence over her brother’s choices.

Kris added: “I think it will also be based on public sensibilities and sensitivities. Ang pinagdarasal ko lang sana pagbigyan ng pagkakataon ng mga tao ‘yung mga gusto talagang sincere ang paninilbihan na ibigay sa bayan natin.”

The presidential and vice-presidential proclamation yesterday became another occasion for showbiz and politics to mingle. Spotted inside the Batasang Pambansa were ABS-CBN executives, president Charo Santos and channel head Cory Vidanes, talent manager Deo Endrinal, singer Ogie Alcasid, actor Dingdong Dantes, actor-director Cesar Montano, Regal Films matriarch Lily Monteverde, Kris’ cager-husband James Yap, designer Paul Cabral and fashion editor Liz Uy.

Speaking of Liz, her ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz told “TV Patrol” in a separate interview that he has congratulated her for reportedly being tapped as the “First Stylist.”

“I sent her a message. I just congratulated her as always. And I’ll always be proud of her,” the three-time Box Office King said.

Kris’ advocacy

Apart from being a cheerleader to Noy and a bastion of truth for the nation, Kris will also be busy with her advocacy of helping unfortunate young students, particularly those in Grades 1 up to Grade 3. She starts off by distributing 2,000 school supplies in Tarlac on June 10.

And as ordered by her president-brother, the “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” star will be “giving back” to those who supported Noy during his campaign, and reach out to all.

“Sinabi ko kay Noy na namimili ako kung saan siya malakas. Pinaalalahanan ako ni Noy na ‘No Kristina, kailangan mag-reach out ka sa lahat dahil ikaw ‘yung may kakayanan,’ [and] as Ate [Ballsy] said nga, dahil sa napapanood ako sa TV araw-araw, mas madali na makapunta at makalapit sa kanila so after Tarlac merong kaming Cebu and may isang area sa Mindanao,” she said.

Big Brother angered by PBB teen housemates’ kiss

“Pinoy Big Brother”’s Kuya blew his top when PBB Teen Clash 2010 housemates Ivan Dorschner and Ann Li locked lips in one episode of the top rating ABS-CBN reality show.

“Housemates, lahat kayo, pumasok kayo sa confession room. Everybody, now!” Kuya angrily roared at everyone who was involved in the said game.

Ivan and Ann kissed each other on the lips on a dare while playing a spin-the-bottle game. The two did so in full sight of fellow housemates.

The kiss was reportedly instigated by teen housemate Joe Vargas. Originally, the plan was for the two (Ivan and Ann) to kiss with a tissue placed on their lips. But the two went on to kiss without the tissue.

The controversial kiss between Ivan and Ann has made the rounds in YouTube and Facebook.

The young housemates were cheering as Ivan and Ann were about to kiss. One even wailed, “Dapat mag-mouthwash ka, mapapalaban ka!”

Apparently, Ivan and Ann’s kiss took a take two. On the video, a fellow housemate was overheard saying “center” while motioning to Ivan with his lips. Then, Ivan and Ann kissed again.

While the teasing and taunting was going on, a female housemate was heard saying “Patay tayo kay Kuya.”

True enough, Kuya shouted at them and instructed them all to enter the confession room.

Reportedly, a lot of PBB viewers on live streams were surprised by the said kiss between the two housemates.

In all likelihood, the episode will not be aired on television as it will attract sanction by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), which has strict rules when it comes to matters concerning teens.

ABS-CBN is also reportedly not making a big fuss out of it so as not to attract public attention.

In other reports, two other housemates Tricia and James are also said to have kissed but theirs was not captured on video.

Belo Eager for Noynoy’s Makeover

After having repaired her rift with presumptive-presidential sister Kris Aquino, “cosmetic surgeon to the stars” Vicki Belo has expressed eagerness to help out in the “makeover” of the country’s soon-to-be-president, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. Belo’s announcement came after the younger Aquino publicly articulated on the matter during and after the recent campaign period. Belo said she agrees with the “The Buzz” host, and in an interview with GMA News, shared the importance of improving the older Aquino’s appearance. “We don’t want a president looking worried all the time,” she said. According to Belo, Aquino would do well to have work done on his hair, eyes, skin, and face. “His receding hairline makes him appear older. I want to keep him young and a hair transplant can do just that,” Belo explained. For Aquino’s eyes, Belo suggested “minor surgery to [get] rid [of] the sagging skin [under his eyes]. “It will make him look fresh once again.” For Aquino’s uneven skin tone, Belo suggested that Aquino use Cosmelan, a topical cream that his controversial actress-host sister also uses. Belo also recommended Botox injections for Aquino to lessen the appearance of the facial lines brought about by age. Though it’s too early to tell if Aquino will take heed of Belo’s advice, of late he has seemingly shown a bit of latitude when it comes to propositions offered by her youngest sister, including having to consider some showbiz denizens for government posts. Also, when international magazine Time, came a calling a few months back, Aquino acquiesced to her sister’s request that stylist Liz Uy [also known as the ex-girlfriend of matinee actor John Lloyd Cruz] be brought in for some fashion exertion. In any case, Aquino bared some fashion sense of his own, announcing recently that he will be wearing a traditional barong Tagalog designed by young, hip Filipino designer JC Buendia during his upcoming inauguration. Aquino said he personally hand-picked the design –one with the symbolic ribbon closely associated with his parents—from many that Buendia presented to him. “It’s a symbol of the (country’s) struggle today, and I want to be sure that I don’t lose my ground,” he said.

Word war brews between Angelica and Gretchen

It seems another showbiz “word war” is in the offing.
“Rubi” star Angelica Panganiban reportedly got miffed over “Magkaribal” star Gretchen Barretto’s controversial remark that she wanted to see only Derek Ramsay’s pictures of his trip to South Africa.
Note that Derek will be spending the vacation in South Africa with his real life girlfriend, Angelica.
On last Friday’s “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Gretchen said the following upon learning of her “Magkaribal” leading man’s vacation.
“Masa-sad ako siyempre kasi wala ng kwento. Hihintayin ko ‘yong mga kwento niya. Pictures na lang, hihintayin ko mga pictures niya. Solo pictures lang ha. Gusto ko ikaw lang, walang iba (laughs).”
These words reportedly so irked Angelica that last Sunday, “The Buzz” said she posted on her Twitter page: “Totoo nga… Nakakaloka pala talaga. Oh well… Nakakaawa ka.. Mukhang di ka masaya.. Goodnight.”
Another tweet read: “Tarrrraaaayyy!!! Single ka teh? :)
ABS-CBN’s upcoming teleserye, “Magkaribal,” paved the way for Gretchen and Derek to work together. Gretchen, who is the long-time domestic partner of businessman Antonio “TonyBoy” Cojuangco, has been vocal about her crush on Derek, intimating that she had longed to work with the hunk actor.
Although Angelica did not admit her tweets were meant for Gretchen, she said, “Nasa mga tao na ‘yon kung sino sa tingin nila ang gusto kong paringgan… Huwag sana akong idamay sa promotion [ng ‘Magkaribal’]. Kasi kung gusto niyang mag-promote, mag-promote siyang mag-isa.”
Commenting on Gretchen’s request for Derek’s solo pictures from their South Africa trip, Angelica stressed, “Magdadala na lang ako ng pictures namin pero walang solo, puro double. Wala, sinabi ko lang, ‘Taray single ka?’ Kasi ako double. May boyfriend ako, tsaka girlfriend ako ni Derek.”
Gretchen, on the other hand, reacted to Angelica’s tweet, thus: “Para ba sa akin ‘yon (tweets)? Hindi ko alam. Nagtra-trabaho lang ako, nag-e-enjoy lang ako. Joke lang namin ni Derek ‘yon.”
When told of Angelica’s answer to her request for Derek’s solo pictures, Gretchen said, in what can be described as a sarcastic tone: “Oh my god, how painful. I’m so depressed. Very ouchy talaga.”
She added: “Lovey [referring to Derek], defend me. Inaaway na nila ako… Ako si Victoria [her character in ‘Magkaribal’]. Suot ko ang pag-ibig na hindi susuko at lalaban magpakailanman (laughs). You want war, I’ll give you war. I’ll be there in my red stilettos.”
Derek maintained in a separate interview that no problem brews between him and Angelica when it comes to their respective work.
“She knows na trabaho lang ito. Kapag tapos na kaming magtrabaho, hanggang doon lang ‘yon,” he said.

KC thrilled by Sharon-Gabby reunion on her TV show

What KC Concepcion thought impossible for most of her life is now a thing of the past: Her parents Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion have agreed to share the same frame on camera and on their daughter’s morning show “Simply KC” at that.

In a press conference for “I’ll Be There,” the film featuring the mega daughter and her father, KC disclosed how the pleasant surprise of reuni-ting her parents on a TV show made her feel.

“Hindi ko nga alam kung paano nangyari. Nagulat na lang po ako na kinausap nila (production team) si Mama. Of course I’m excited pero hindi ko pa po iniisip kasi for me it’s not entertainment. For me, totoong buhay ito. Ang tagal ko ding tinry na makapag-usap silang dalawa nang hindi nag-aaway,” she revealed of the TV moment happening set Monday.

Sharon and Gabby last worked together in the movie, “Una Kang Naging Akin.”

“For them to be in the show na kasama ako, magkaharap, ay malaking malaking bagay sa akin ‘yon. Ang tagal bago kami makara-ting dito.”

Meanwhile Gabby said of the planned reunion, “Masaya. Masaya siyempre. Hindi ko ma-describe ‘yong feeling. Nararamdaman ko na lang, handa na.”

Gretchen’s freak accident left her nearly naked

Controversial star Gretchen Barretto found herself nearly naked when a freak accident involving her gown occurred during her recent taping with her leading man Derek Ramsay for “Magkaribal.”

“We were on a motorbike, a big bike. And she was looking beautiful at that time. Nagba-bike with her long gown. We’re just trying this effect na we’re gonna fly by the camera with her dress,” Derek narrated on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” June 2.

“Akala ko may humila. Yun pala, ‘yung tire inipit ‘yung gown. Tapos sumigaw ako. Afterwards, nahubaran ako,” the actress said.

Derek shared, “And then it held her back, it folded her dress down.”

Derek did the right decision to hit the break. And he was chivalrous enough to cover the nearly naked Gretchen.

“Ako naman, I felt to let go. I hit the breaks and she felt forward. And she just said, ‘Don’t move.’ Alam ko na. When I hit the breaks naman, she fell forward so I was able to cover her.”

How bare was Gretchen then?

“Talagang down, wala akong sticker bra, wala akong niplets. Buti na lang nakatalikod itong si Derek. Pero sabi niya, may mirror daw siya sa harap. Pero hindi siya tumingin.”

With Derek’s life-saving action, Gretchen considers Angelica Panganiban’s boyfriend, “My hero!”

“Oo naman, kung hindi dahil kay Derek, wala na ako ngayon.”

But more than the accident, Gretchen was reportedly worried about her gown, which reportedly costs around P80,000.

“Hindi ko sasabihin kung magkano. Actually, hindi ko pa nababayaran. Siyempre, sad ako na nasira ‘yung gown ko.”

But Derek countered it was still okay for the actress.

“She was smiling. Even before that kasi parang nalalaspag na ‘yung gown. Sinabi ko sa kanya, ‘Kawawa naman ‘yung gown mo.’ She’s like, ‘Okay lang na may mangyari sa gown — ‘wag lang sa shoes!’”

“Siyempre, nagbibiro ako no’n,” Gretchen said.

This Saturday, Derek and Angelica plus some friends will leave for South Africa for a month’s vacation.

Feigning hurt, Gretchen exclaimed, “Ouch!”

“Masa-sad ako. Wala nang kuwento. Hinintayin ko ‘yung mga kuwento niya. Pictures na lang. Hihintayin ko mga pictures niya. Pictures, ha, solo, walang iba.”

For Tourism Secretary I am Qualified – Boy Abunda

MANILA, Philippines – TV talk show host Boy Abunda on Wednesday said he was hurt by insinuations that an entertainer like himself is unfit to join the Cabinet of incoming President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Speaking on Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN) on Wednesday, Abunda said he was offended by comments saying entertainers are not qualified to become high-ranking government officials.

Aquino earlier said he was considering Abunda as his tourism secretary. (Click here for story.)

“At ngayon araw po, lumabas ang balita, at dito po ako medyo napipikon, sasabihin ko po sa inyo ang totoo. Kahit sinabi ko na po that I am inclined to decline two days ago, kung sakasakaling bigyan ako ng offer. Si Boy Abunda ay hindi inooffer, ay hindi tatanggapin dapat ang offer ng Secretary of Department of Tourism dahil siya ay hindi marketing man, dahil siya ay hindi abugado at he is just an entertainer.

“I take offense, sasabihin ko po iyan. I am an entertainer but I am not just an entertainer. Dahil gusto ko pong malaman ng mga taong nagsasalita na hindi po madali ang aming ginagawa. Ang puhunan po namin ay utak, puso, pawis, dugo, and to do what we do is not easy. This is not an easy job. And yes, I am proudly an entertainer,” he said.

Selling the Philippines

Abunda pointed out that a major task of the head of the Department of Tourism (DoT) is to sell the Philippines’ entertainment attractions, which includes its rich cultural heritage.

“Sa mga nagtatrabaho sa Department of Tourism, this is what you’re missing out. A large part of the job of the Department of Tourism actually is to sell the entertainment angle of this country.

“It’s entertainment that should draw so many people around the world to come to this country, entertainment in the form of food, national heritage, dance, destinations….It is also entertainment that should convince locals to travel around the country.”

Abunda also said he was not ashamed of his job, and that, in fact, he was proud to be an entertainer.

“I am just an entertainer. I am a serious entertainer. At ikinararangal ko po maging isang entertainer,” he said.

He thanked president-apparent Aquino for considering him to be tourism secretary.

Not financially ready

However, he said he was not financially ready to join government.

“Nais ko lamang malaman ninyo na naiintidihan ko po that when one is given the chance to serve in government, to occupy a government post, dapat kayo po ay intellectually ready, dapat emotionally ready, at financially ready.

“Intellectually ready, we can debate about it, it’s debatable. Emotionally ready, it’s judgment call. You know yourselves, you know when you are emotionally ready for some things.

“Financially ready, mga kaibigan, hindi po ako financially ready. Matagal na po akong nagtatrabaho dito sa industriyang ito. Nakaipon na po ng kaunti para sa komportableng buhay ng Nanay, ako at ng aking kapatid at ang aming maliit na pamilya. If I lose my job tomorrow, hindi po ako magsisinungaling, I am OK.

“Pero kung ako’y papasok po sa isang government post, wala po akong perang gagastusin pang-araw-araw. Kaya sinasabi ko po, I am not financially ready because I need a few years para mag-ipon. Sakasakali kung ako’y magdesisyon to join government, meron po akong disposable income ika nga.”

Abunda also said he was still happy working in the entertainment industry, so he would rather not join government yet.

“Mga Kapamilya, mga kaibigan, I am happiest where I am right now. I cannot complain. I am happiest in the entertainment industry. I am blessed with a wonderful career. To get where I am today, kahit maliit po ang espasyong ito, was not easy. It was a difficult journey, pinaghirapan ko po ito,” he said.

He also clarified that Aquino has not made him a formal offer to join his Cabinet, so there is nothing to either accept or reject.

Will honor contract with ABS-CBN

Abunda also said he was not ready to join government since he still has a contract to honor with ABS-CBN, which expires in 2011.

“At ngayon kung tatanungin n’yo po ako, bakit nahihirapan po akong magdesisyon, halimbawa kung sakasakali mang may offer. There are contracts to be fulfilled there are commitments to be fulfilled, there are talents to be discovered, there are talk shows to be produced, there are studies to be finished. Ang dami ko pa pong trabahong gagawin. Isa po ‘yan sa mga dahilan.

“Nagsasara po ba akong pintuan? Am I closing my doors? I have a contract in ABS-CBN that I’d like to honor that will last until the end of 2011. I will respect and honor that contract.

“Am I interested, am I closing my doors? I’m not closing my doors. But is that gonna happen now? No, it is not going to happen now. So doon po sa mga nagsasabing hindi ko dapat tanggapin or tanggapin ko, sinabi ko na po, no, I am not going to take the offer. Ang mga dahilan ay sinabi ko na po lahat sa inyo ngayon gabi.”

As a private citizen and friend of the Aquino family, Abunda said he is able to tell Aquino his ideas on various issues, and he would like this kind of relationship to continue.

“What is my relationship po with Noy Aquino? Alam n’yo po mga kaibigan, I’m able to write him memos, I’m able to write him short notes, I’m able to say and express things to him about matters that are relevant to the presidency, matters that are relevant to the country. Maraming bagay po.

“Ang iba ay kanyang binabasa, pinasasalamatan niya po ako. Ang iba naman po ay siguro narinig na rin po niya sa iba.

I would like to be able to continue serving my future president by being able to tell him honestly, without bias without agenda, political and personal interest. And to me that is the best place in the world today. I don’t want to change it.”

Abunda said those interested in becoming secretary of tourism should not worry since he is not yet prepared to accept a government job.

“Ok. Babalikan ko po ang tanong. Hypothetical. If and when I am offered the post of Secretary of Tourism, will I accept? The answer is no. Doon sa mga interesado sa posisyon, makakatulog na po kayo ng mahimbing.”

Britain’s Fergie blames booze, cash woes

LOS ANGELES – Sarah Ferguson told US talk show queen Oprah Winfrey on Tuesday that alcohol and cash woes had pushed her to tell a reporter in a sting that she could “open any door you want” to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew. In an exclusive interview, the now purportedly cash-strapped Duchess of York, 50, said she had not seen the damning footage that has triggered the latest scandal to rattle her personal life. “I haven’t faced the devil in the face because I was in the gutter at that moment,” the former British royal told Winfrey. “So I’m aware of the fact that I’ve been drinking, you know, that I was not in my right place.” Ferguson then agreed to watch the three-minute video clip, after which she alternately lamented her intoxication and insisted that she could not remember whether or not she was drunk when it was filmed. “Thank you for showing me because, actually, I felt really sorry for her,” Sarah said, referring to herself in the third person. “What do you mean by that?” Oprah asked. “Well, because she’s complete — she looks exhausted,” she said. “I think clearly I’ve been (having) too much to drink.” She then said she could not recall what she was drinking that evening. “It’s really painful, so I can’t remember whether it was orange juice or wine,” she says. Ferguson spoke to Winfrey in Los Angeles on Friday for the interview that aired in the United States Tuesday. Ferguson said she agreed to a second meeting with the British tabloid News of the World reporter, even though he failed to sign a confidentiality agreement. She said she wept when he handed her $40,000 which she said she needed to give to a friend in need. “I think I was so out of control with desperation to the point where I’d reached no return of helping my friend with the $40,000,” she told Winfrey. When Oprah asked why Ferguson could not ask her husband or the Queen for monetary assistance, she replied: “Absolutely not, because I am divorced from the royal family and I would never dream of doing that.” Ferguson said she had a “substantial” amount of debt and that her spending was out of control. “I’ve got a huge uphill battle, but that’s why I must look at bankruptcy,” she said. “Before, [I was] spiraling so out of control I was looking for the quick fixes in places I wouldn’t normally look,” she said. “Like anybody that goes through an addiction to food, and addiction to goodness knows what … it’s just out of control behavior.” Some US entertainment media have reported that Ferguson is interested in moving to the United States, and that she might be keen to pad her bank account with an appearance on a reality television show. Last week, Ferguson apologized for a “serious lapse in judgment” after the tabloid published the story. Ferguson also admitted having financial problems after she appeared to agree to be paid by a journalist posing as a businessman, in the video that was secretly filmed by the News of the World. In return for the money, the paper said she promised to introduce the undercover reporter to the prince, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s second son and Britain’s special representative for international trade and investment. As well as making the deal for half a million pounds the footage also showed Ferguson sitting in front of a pile of cash apparently handed to her as an advance payment. After the publication of the report last week, the duchess issued an apology for her actions and said the prince had not been aware of the meetings. In the video, Ferguson had suggested the prince knew about the discussions.

Noy, the namesake

There’s more than meets the eye to sharing the first name of a famous personality, Coco Martin’s character learns in the independent film “Noy,”pic-05310247140656 which the actor co-directs and co-produces. This is especially true when the personality is the leading presidential candidate, who becomes the namesake-journalist’s subject for a story. “Noy” is about a journalist commissioned to document the campaign of his namesake, presidential aspirant Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III. Coco had to employ what he called “guerilla tactics” while working on the film to avoid being mobbed and causing delay in the shooting. “It was tough,” Coco told Inquirer Entertainment. “I was used to running around the city while filming and nobody notices me. Now the moment I get out of the car, curious people come after me.” Coco was dubbed Prince of Indie Cinema after appearing in award-winning indie films like “Masahista (2005),” “Kaleldo (2006),” “Tambolista” (2007), “Batanes (2008) and “Kinatay” (2009). The Kapamilya drama series “Tayong Dalawa,” where he played rebellious son Ramon, paved the way for his successful crossover to mainstream entertainment. “‘Noy’ took six months to make,” said Coco, who had to shoot some footage from an audience point of view to avoid being mobbed. “The longest time I had previously worked on a film was 11 days. For this movie, I went to about 20 provinces. We followed Senator Noynoy (Aquino) on some of his campaign sorties in Davao, Cebu and Samar.” Coco admitted that when he first set out to do this project, he was unaware of the state of local politics and the goings-on in the life of a journalist. “There was even a scene where I was supposed to ask Senator Noy questions and I didn’t know what to ask,” he said. “The senator even corrected me. Nakakahiya.” Award-winning actress Cherry Pie Picache, who plays Coco’s mother, said she was drawn to the project’s two-fold plot. “It’s an overview of how politics, or the campaign in particular, is done in the Philippines,” she explained. “It also depicts what a typical Filipino family is like—a family full of love and hope.” The project was conceptualized in September 2009, when Coco first met the Aquino family at a dinner hosted by his “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo” co-star Kris, Noynoy’s youngest sister. Coco’s co-director, Dondon Santos, said he “gave his all” to the project, his very first indie film. “I’m very proud of it and of the actors I worked with—Coco, Cherry Pie, Erich (Gonzales) Jhong (Hilario) and Kristofer (King). Our goal is for this film to be an eye-opener to Filipinos, to make them realize that there’s still hope for this country.” “Noy,” which will premiere in local theaters on June 2, will also have screenings from June 11 to 17 in cinemas in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego in California.
