Hero Angeles’ comeback to big screen

The former Kapamilya star on Monday attended the premiere night of “Fighting Chefs,” where he stars alongside the film’s director Ronnie Ricketts. The debut screening at Robinsons Galliera in Ortigas is Angeles’ first public appearance as an actor promoting a big screen project.

The action flick also stars Mark Gil, Arci Munoz, Chef Boy Logro, Vandolph, John Hall, Joross Gamboa, Jade Lopez and Jeffrey Santos. In “Fighting Chefs,” Angeles plays a restaurant cook who is caught in a clash to protect the business against perpetrators. This is Angeles first major film or TV role since 2009, when he last appeared in a number of TV series and a horror flick.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday, the “Bcuz of U” star expressed happiness over finally returning to acting. Moving forward, Angeles said he hopes to work with Kapamilya actresses Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador.

The actor rose to fame after earning the “Grand Teen Questor” title in the Kapamilya reality talent search “Star Circle Quest” in 2004, which also launched his love team with Korean Sandara Park.

But Angeles’ thriving career slowly fizzled as he figured in arguments with the entertainment press and officials of ABS-CBN over alleged disagreements on career path.

In 2008, Angeles formally transferred to GMA7 where he starred in a number of television series. His last major TV project was in 2009. In June last year, Angeles maintained that the departure of Park cost him several projects. The Korean actress returned to her native country in 2007 to pursue a similar career there. She is now one-fourth of the popular K-pop girl group 2NE1.

To be released by Viva Films, “Fighting Chefs” will hit theaters nationwide on March 6.

Former Child Actress Miles Ocampo Segues Smoothly To Teen Roles

It is already the 2nd seasin of the series LUV U, a Sunday youth-oriented show of ABS-CBN. In line with this the teen cast of the series was seen in the event of Wako-Wako in Glorietta 5.

Here, we were able to talk to one of the lead stars of the show which is Miles Ocampo.

Miles is very happy because the season 2 of their show had started airing already.

MAKING THE SHIFT. Well in fact, Miles is very lucky coming from Goin’ Bulilit show then came LUV U in which she immediately have been given a work.

She said, “Siyempre po noong una, nahihirapan.

Miles answered giggly abd jokingly when she was asked whether she feels that she is no longer a child anymore.

Miles didn’t refused the fact that she has suitors  as of the moment.

Does Miles wants to enter the life of having committed to anyone having her some friends already have?

LOVETEAM. Marco Gumabao, the newcomer is the partner of Miles in LUV U and a lot of people and followers love their tandem. There were a time in which she thinks that Marco is a very quiet person, but now, she can say that she and her partner had already established a close relationship.

Does Marco, pursuing you already?

“Hindi po,” she said very quickly.

So, masaya po.”

IDOLS. Miles had been very vocal when it terms to whom her idol is, she said it was bea Alonzo. She had a chance to work with Bea with the movie Sa ‘Yo Lamang.

According to Miles, “Ang galing niya pong talaga. Sobra po akong nahuhusayan sa kanya. Yung passion niya po.

“At saka, ate ko po siyang talaga. Nagba-bonding kami minsan. Nanonood kami ng movie.  Ate po talaga.  Ang bait po.”

What Bea had as a career path, that’s what Miles want to happen to her as well.

“Parang napaka-down-to-earth, so, yun po talaga.”

And if she were to be asked about the guy who she admired so much, she would gladly answer that it’s Zanjoe Marudo, boyfriend of Bea Alonzo.

Is Zanjoe aware that Miles has a crush on him?

“Opo, alam niya. Kaya palagi niya akong inaasar.

NEW SOAP WITH KRIS. There’s an upcoming teleserye for Miles in where she will act as the daughter of Kris Aquino in the teleserye Kailangan Kita.

She stated that she was excited for the upcoming teleserye since it is her first time to work with Kris Aquino.

Bianca King Feels “very blessed” Because “work has been non-stop”

“Very, very blessed,” a statement which is perfectly fits Bianca King who since last year had been busy with her work.

The Kapuso actress mentioned and enumerates her continuous projects last May 19, at the event launch of Gatorade Low Carb at the amphitheater of Bonifacio High Street Central

Bianca said, “Since Captain Barbell (March 2011), my work had been non-stop, and soap operas pa.

“‘Tapos from Captain Barbell, I was pulled out to be the lead in Sinner or Saint (June 2011).

“And then a month after Sinner or Saint, which ended in October, I started taping for Legacy for its pilot week.

“And then, ah, I was taping for that…nag-overlap ang taping. I was taping for that in January, and January rin we started Broken Vow.

“Broken Vow is until mid-June, and then July ang Luna Blanca.”

The lady’s next soap is her biggest break to date.

With too much excitement, she tells the media that, “I’m Luna. I play the character of Luna in Luna Blanca.

“It’s my first lead on primetime. And it’s my first title role also.

“First time na nangyari sa akin na yung pangalan ng character ko, yun yung pangalan ng show…”

When asked to describe her character, she answered “headstrong” because “hindi naging hadlang yung dark skin niya…”

The TV series started airing last night, May 21, 2012, will showcase three generations of actresses namely Jillian Ward and Mona Louise Rey who will play the young characters; Bea Binene and Barbie Forteza will do the tween phase; and Heart Evangelista and Bianca King will portray the grown-up versions.

Bianca added, “For our generation, there’s no script yet, but the character of Luna is very bubbly, free-spirited, ah, child-like, and confident, even if hindi siya yung favorite ng mother nila.

THE SMALL PRICE OF HER ROLE. Yes, she’s going to have her skin blackened for the project.

The preparations might be harmful for her skin, but she has no doubts about playing a dark-skinned lady in the series.

“Starting na nga,” she cuts in, referring to the tiny freckles—a common problem among mestizas.

But vanity is the farthest thing from her mind.

“Ano naman yun, it’s a small price to pay for a role that’s so big.

“It really doesn’t matter when you have…because there’s bigger responsibility on your shoulder. It’s a small thing. They don’t really matter. What matters is that I deliver.”

DREAM ROLE. After playing roles that are “out-of-type cast,” Bianca says, “I’m game very game” to doing anything.

The 27-year-old star elaborates, “Actually, if you analyze the type of bida roles that I got here in Broken Vow and Sinner or Saint, hindi siya yung tipong bida role na madaling tanggapin kasi very deglamorized siya.

“And sa Sinner or Saint, I played a no read-no write babaeng hampaslupa na lumaki sa slums so I didn’t have my make-up on it, didn’t even brush my hair ‘tapos yung pananalita’t kilos ko, medyo may pagka-kanto girl.

“And plus I also had a child there. I got pregnant out of wedlock, so you know it’s not very wholesome…

“But for me, I’ve always considered myself edgy.

After playing Noemi Manansala, she’s now Melissa Santiago on GMA-7’s dramarama sa hapon.

Bianca resumes, “And then Broken Vow naman, a rape victim who becomes a battered wife so… and then I have a seven-year-old child here, and I play somebody much, much older than me. I play 49-year-old woman.

“So yun, it’s not ano, e… These are roles that you really have to be committed to, that you really have to be serious in your craft.”

Does she have any dream role?

Her reply: “I really want to do a female heroine that’s not a superhero. So something like Alias, something like Nikita, something like Charlie’s Angels, like that… So parang a female spy or a female secret agent.”

She’s also open to doing a romantic comedy.

Her mood changed when her rumored boyfriend was mentioned, Dennis Trillo.

What’s exactly their status?

She smiles and giggles for about a minute, and say, “We’re good…

Judy Ann Santos To Star In New Soap For TV And Big Movie Project For MMFF

Judy Ann Santos will be doing rounds in different malls in the Philippines particularly in several groceries to check or see the product she is endorsing, Lactum, milk for infants.

May 19, 2012, a live appearance of the actress was held in the Atrium of SM Megamall. In where, the “Build a 100% Panatag World” campaign was launched by Lactum and the press conference of Judy Ann has been opened for publicity. A number of present moms in the event got a chance to ask questions addressing the actress; in short they had a mini open forum.

Last May 11, the actress celebrated her birthday at Singapore together with her family.

“Nag-Singapore kami ni Ryan. With the two kids, parents ni Ryan, at kasama rin namin si Mommy.

For the renovation of the school grounds, doon po ako naka-focus sa kanila.”

The birthday of Juday and the Mother’s Day were celebrated together when they had their Singapore trip. It was the gift given by her behalf, Ryan Agoncillo, together with a pair of dazzling shoes but Juday doesn’t want to give much detail of the shoes that was given to her.

Kasi, si Yohan, gustong mag-Universal Studios at saka yung Sounds of the Sea.

“At tamang-tama rin, Mother’s Day, magandang kasa-kasama namin ang mga mommies namin at that time.”

They stayed for about 6 days and 5 nights in Singapore.

BACK TO SOAP WORLD. It was said that she will be going to start again in making and taping for a teleserye in ABS-CBN. Good thing is that they finally made her a ‘yes’ to tape again or do a soap again.

Juday said with a giggle, “Unang-una, kasama siya sa kontrata.”

“Pero yung ABS naman, guaranteed me na it’s not gonna be as hectic as before—noong dalaga pa ako.

It was said that Juday has a cut-off of 12 midnight.

It was Sam Milby whom she knows that she would be working with in the upcoming teleserye.

Wala namang nahindian,” she said.

Aside from the time, are there any other requests in which she asked for before she accepted to do a teleserye again? Like, are there any demands?

“Actually, wala naman.  Yung cut-off lang talaga.

Kasi, iniisip mo na kailangan, take one lang ‘to.

“Pag-uusapan kung hanggang anong month puwedeng i-can.

“I-can natin, pero, huwag namang dalawang taon.”

CHOICE OF ROLES. In terms of doing a teleserye, does she requires a certain role or does she the one to choose in which role she likes most?

Juday is avoiding the possibility of losing time for her family especially with the project/s she is about to face in the near future.

Judy Ann has an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN.

“Sa TV production? Exclusive ako.”

GUESTING OUTSIDE HER NETWORK. How come that she was permitted to be the guest in the shows of TV5 like Talentadong Pinoy of Ryan and Sharon: Kasama Mo Kapatid ni Sharon Cuneta?

For teleseryes, I am exclusive with them.”

MEGA MOVIE PRODUCTION. Aside from the Cinemalaya entry of Judy Ann which is Mga Mumunting Lihim, it is also possible that she will make a big production movie. At first, she doesn’t want to mention what’s the title of the movie.

“May isang malaking project na mangyayari this year.

“But definitely, it’s going be a big project.  At least for me.

“With the big companies and big stars as well.

“Hindi Star Cinema. Parang tatlong production e, ang magsasama-sama. I think ha, I’m not sure, kasi hindi ko pa rin sila nakaka-meeting nang maayos.”

Is it for Metro Manila Film Festival?

“Maaari, maaari…kasi sabi ko nga noong una, ang hirap ng Filmfest, ang ngarag,” she said.

An entertainment press guessed that it is possible that the movie Juday is referring to is for Metro Manila Film Festival entry. A collaboration of Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto in which, she will probably replace Ai-Ai.

Have Juday and Ai-Ai talked about this matter?

Maybe, Juday and Ryan will also have rivalry?

Ay!” she said jokingly.

“Hindi naman… I mean when it comes naman to acting and career, wala naman kaming isyu sa ganyan.

“Lahat naman ito e, trabaho, di ba? Kung anu’t-anuman pareho naman kaming magbe-benefit sa resulta kung saka-sakali at wala naman kaming isyu pagdating sa trabaho, as long as yung time for the family hindi nakakalimutan.”

COCO AND JOHN LLOYD. Will the proposed movie of Star Cinema with Coco Martin and John Lloyd Cruz, will push thru?

Is she interested?

“Oo naman, oo naman. Basta siguro two years from now,” she said.

Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee, And Maja Salvador Star In Upcoming Teleserye Ina, Kapatid, Anak

Xian Lim is happy to spend more time with Kim Chiu.

“Sabi ko nga, sana magkatrabaho na kami ulit para makita ko siya every day,” said Xian, who used to be Kim’s leading man in My Binondo Girl.

Members of the press were able to interview the young stars at a story conference last May 11 at the 9501 restaurant of the ELJ Building in Quezon City.

Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador will also join the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye titled Ina, Kapatid, Anak.  Also in the cast are Ronaldo Valdez, Janice de Belen, Cherry Pie Picache, Eddie Gutierrez, Ariel Rivera, Jayson Gainza, and Rayver Cruz.

During the event, Kim and Xian revealed the qualities they like about each other.

Kim went first: “Hopeless romantic siya,” she described Xian. “Parang traditional so nakakatuwa…”

When it was Xian’s turn, he answered, “Her personality, her eyes and her smile.”

Kim admitted that she and Xian go out together but are often accompanied by her sisters.

“Lumalabas kami ni Xian if we have time.

When asked about the status of their friendship, Kim said: “Hindi na kailangan ng label. Sa ngayon, labas-labas lang kami.”

Are they exclusively dating? “Hindi naman masyado,” she said with a laugh.

When it was Xian’s turn to be asked the same question, he said:  “Hindi naman natin kailangan lagyan ng label but yes, we’re having fun every time we see each other. I’m happy and I hope she’s happy also.”

Kim mentioned that her sisters are already Xian’s textmates. The actress also revealed that she has met Xian’s mother.

How is Xian’s relationship with Kim’s sisters? “Natatawa naman sila sa mga jokes ko,” he said.

ROSES FOR KIM. Last December, Xian surprised Kim by hiring a choir to serenade her on the set of My Binondo Girl.

Xian surprised Kim with another romantic gesture on her 22th birthday last April 19.

She gushed: “Red roses, ang dami-dami! Nakakatuwa.”

Xian said he does these things to make Kim smile.

“It makes me happy when I see her happy…every time she laughs, nakakatuwa lang,” he replied.

Where does he get the inspiration for these sweet gestures?

“Dito yun kinukuha,” he admitted.

Kim, who was standing beside him, reacted with a giggle. In response, Xian stressed, “Totoo naman yun! Hindi yun nakukuha sa mga libro.”

Piolo Pascual Fears Being Misquoted

Piolo Pascual said he has been keeping mum about his personal life for being misquoted in certain news reports; he decided to keep quiet after his highly publicized breakup with actress, KC Concepcion.

“Mahirap magsalita. People end up giving different meanings to the things I say,” Piolo said during a recent media gathering for his latest film, “Every Breath U Take.”

The actor was asked to enumerate the qualities he likes in a girlfriend. “I don’t want to be misquoted. Love will come at the right time and for the right person. I remember being asked about my plans for settling down and replying that only time would tell,” said the actor. “Right now, I’m just going with the flow. There are things I need to do for myself first. I have work commitments and I want to focus on them.”

Viewers reacted to KC’s tell-all interview about their breakup last November 2011 by posting nasty comments online about Piolo, mostly in relation to his sexuality. However, Piolo’s bosses in ABS-CBN made sure he was not affected by the backlash—he still has product endorsements, the drama series “Dahil sa Pag-ibig,” and now a Star Cinema romantic-comedy opposite another Kapamilya star, Angelica Panganiban.

“Pinapasa-Diyos ko na lang,” the actor said about handling controversies. Angelica said it also helped that Piolo always exercise to have a happy disposition while working.

Hilarious situations

“Nakakadala ’pag nandiyan siya. He inspired me to work harder. I was always challenged to match his energy level on set,” Angelica said. “He spoiled me by bringing me food. There’s also that handsome face of his! I just loved looking at his face!” she added.

Premise

In the movie, Piolo plays Leo, who is so focused with work that love is the last thing on his mind. Meanwhile, Angelica portrays Majoy, a hopeless romantic and always on the look-out for her one true love. “On this premise, the two meet and go through hilarious situations as they try to make their relationship work,” said the film’s director Mae Czarina Cruz.

“Every Breath U Take,” which opens in theaters nationwide on May 16, also features Nova Villa, Ryan Eigenmann, Wendy Valdez, Ketchup Eusebio, Joross Gamboa, Carlos Agassi, Frenchie Dy, Janus del Prado and Ryan Bang. Its red-carpet premiere is set on May 15, 6 p.m., at Cinema 9 of SM Megamall.

Dingdong Dantes: Ignore The Issue About His Being Nominated As Best Actor

The Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) asked Dingdong Dantes about the issue of questioning his nomination as Best Actor in Golden Screen Awards of Entertainment Press Society, Inc.

The issue occurs when Laguna Governor ER Ejercito comments on DingDong Dantes being nominated for Best actor in his role on the movie Segunda Mano.

Governor ER is not included on the nominees of Best actor for Golden Screen Awards for his role in Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story.

While they are both nominated as Best Actor in Metro Manila Film Festival 2011 Awards Night, where Dingdong is the one who awarded as Best Actor.

And they are also nominated as Best Actor in Star Awards for Movies of Philippine Movie Press Club.

Based on award winning actor Dingdong Dantes, “I’m very flattered na the fact na napasama ako doon [nominees], napabilang ako doon, malaking bagay na sa akin ‘yon.

Dingdong ignore the criticism about being nominated for Best Actor.

“If that’s their opinion, I respect it,” he said.

Dindong also said that the personal compliment he gets from the people is more important.

“I was in an event last week. Nakausap ko ang isa sa mga [MMFF] jurors last week, who happens to be the chairman of NCCA [National Commission for Culture and the Arts]. He was congratulating me dahil nga doon sa Best Actor [award] ko. Kasi, you can’t really please everybody. Kaya nga maraming genre ang pelikula. Hindi naman lahat, e, magugustuhan ang comedy. Hindi naman lahat magugustuhan ang horror. Hindi lahat magugustuhan ang action”, he said.

Carla Abellana: Torn Between Two Movies

Regal Baby Carla Abellana has two movie entries in the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival. She will play the role of Charlotte in ‘Yesterday Today Tomorrow’ and ER Ejercito’s leading lady in ‘Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story’. Carla’s appearance in The Asiong Salonga story created a conflict in her contract with Regal Films.

ER Ejercito told the press that Carla is being prohibited by Regal to promote their movie that’s why the actress wasn’t able show up in the press conference of The Asiong Salonga Story.

On the other hand, Carla denied that there is a legal threat posted against her and her manager by Regal. She said that Mother Lily has nothing to do with her absence in The Asiong Salonga Story’s press conference. According to her, she is just so busy that she doesn’t even have time to promote Yesterday Today Tomorrow, which is her priority being Regal’s exclusive artist.

Meanwhile, Mother Lily issued a statement on Twitter to clarify the issue:

“I would like to clarify ER Ejercito’s recent statements regarding our contract star Carla Abellana who he contracted to appear in his movie. Firstly, Carla is an exclusive contract artist of Regal Films. Both her and her manager Arnold Vegafria did not ask our permission to be part of ER’s movie. It is not true that Carla has an option to do 1 movie out of Regal. She does not. All I expect from my contract stars is the respect from them and their managers to honor their commitments. May we also suggest to ER to check his facts first before making such statements. Neither do we wish this situation to be used as an issue to generate publicity. The issue is clear neither Carla or her manager Arnold Vegafria asked for permission to shoot this movie with ER and as such are in breach of their signed contract. We have other contract stars who we have lent to other productions. In fact Marian Rivera is in Panday. She is also an exclusive star of Regal but all proper protocol was followed. Let us all respect each other so that we can work harmoniously to rebuild our industry.”

Ate Shawie is the Newest Kapatid

Megastar Sharon Cuneta’s transfer from ABS-CBN to TV5 has long been an issue which Megastar neither confirmed nor denied. Yesterday, November 22, 2011, the issue was proved to be right as TV5 employees welcome Sharon Cuneta as their newest Kapatid. Describing how she felt as she stepped foot in TV5 office at Marajo Tower in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig with a warm welcome by her new TV5 family, Sharon said that it was “mixed emotions.”

The Megastar signed a five- year-contract with the Kapatid Network inclusive of a daily TV show, a reality show, and a movie project. Present in the contract signing was TV5 President and CEO Atty. Ray Espinosa, TV5 COO Robert Barriero, Sharon Cuneta’s longtime manager Sandra Chavez and her other manager Vic del Rosario of Viva Artist Agency. However, TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan was not there during the contract signing. “MVP is supposed to be here but there’s too much Pangilinans already,” Sharon said as a joke.

Sharon Cuneta is rumored to have a 1 billion peso talent fee but when the press tried to confirm the issue, they just kept mum about it.

On the other hand, KC was clueless in her mom’s transfer of home network.

KC on the issue: “Wala pa po siyang [her mom] kinukuwento sa akin. Siguro hinihiwalay lang niya ‘yong… Whatever makes her happy, magiging masaya din ako.”

Meanwhile, the much awaited Vilma Santos-Sharon Cuneta movie will not push through yet. Both Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Star for All Season Vilma Santos were saddened on this postponement.

“Ang mga proyekto there’s such a thing as right timing e. Baka kasi hindi pa time yan. Pero definitely, and magandang balita is nakareserba yan,” Ate Vi explains.

As of now, Ate Shawie focuses her attention in her movie with Gerald Anderson, Enrique Gil, and Julia Montes under the direction of Laurenti Dyogi which will be showed in theaters next year.
