The actress Camille Prats tried to keep herself calm and strong even if her husband, Anthony Linsangan, passed-away on Friday, September 23, because of nasopharyngeal cancer. Anthony was rushed to the hospital on Thursday due to difficulty in breathing.

“Okay naman, medyo… siyempre mahirap. Pero siguro, the family, ako, medyo nakita… hindi naman nakita, pero hinanda naman namin ang sarili namin na kung sakali man na dito papunta… Pero siyempre, mahirap pa din,” said Camille during a talk with media men on Saturday.

She also added that she was shocked that her husband’s death would happen earlier than expected. “Hindi ako makapaniwala kasi napakabata (niya). Kasi that time he’s turning 30 parang hindi totoo. It’s not possible for someone his age to acquire a disease like that. It could just be viral infection. When we found out that it was cancer, hindi ako makapaniwala but of course, we had hope. Kaya kami nag-resort to treatment and all those things, kasi nga we had hope that he will get better at kakayanin niya. Kasi nga bata pa siya,” she said.

She also shared how they found out that Anthony had Stage 4 of nasopharyngeal cancer, “Mga around June, kasi we got married March of last year, so mga June, medyo masakit na yung jaw niya sa left. Tapos nagkaroon na siya ng parang lymph node or nagkaroon na ng bukol so we had that checked. Siguro until mga… from June, we started doing check-ups around June until September.”

The former child star mentioned she never showed any sign of weakness while her husband underwent chemotherapy. She said: “Buong course ng treatment niya hindi ko pinakita sa kanya na umiyak ako, wala talaga…Tinry ko na hindi ipakita sa kanya…I’m sure he was drawing his strength from me, so I never showed any sign of weakness. Through God’s grace, through a lot of prayers, kaya ako ganon.”

“The entire year na nagpapagamot siya, he has gone through so much pain. Hirap na hirap na hirap na hirap na talaga siya na minsan, hindi ko alam kung ipagdadasal ko ba na pahabain pa yung buhay niya pero ganito, or kung kunin na lang siya para hindi siya mahirapan. So, hindi ko na alam kung alin dun yung hihilingin ko. But more than that, I was really praying for a miracle that he will get better,” Camille said.

Moreover, Camille stated that Anthony still showed support in her recent showbiz project in GMA Network even though he was sick. “‘Yung sa ‘Munting Heredera,’ when I got that project, that was May, he was still perfectly healthy…He was all-out supportive. Even when he was sick, he would record the show…even in and out of the hospital, he required a flat screen… wouldn’t miss the show. Even when he was sleeping a lot, he still recorded everything,” she said.

Camille also admitted she has been trying to understand why such incident has happened to her yet still believes that everything was God’s plan. “A lot of people tell me, may dahilan ang Diyos pero hindi ko pa talaga naiintindihan, ang bata pa ni Nathan (their 3-year-old son). Never ko na-imagine na ganito mangyayari sa akin. When I see other people, couples at my age, [I ask] why it just had to happen,” she said.

Anthony’s burial is scheduled tomorrow, September 27, in Manila Memorial Park, Dasmarinas, Cavite.
