Atty. Felipe Gozon: “I will sell GMA Network for P100 billion!”

It was mentioned by Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, the Chairman and CEO of GMA Network, in his interview with the reporter Mary Ann Ll. Reyes of Philippine Star yesterday that he’s already open with selling the network, May 17, 2012

It was stated that GMA Network, Inc. is bargained by P100 billion.

According to Atty. Gozon, “I will sell [GMA Network] for P100 billion, and this includes the 23 percent held by the public.

“I will sign with my eyes closed.”

ACCEPTABLE OFFER. Last April, there were controversies that Manny V. Pangilinan, known as the chairman of large companies like TV5, PLDT and Smart Communications, of having interest in buying the said network offering an amount of around P45 billion.

However, Atty. Gozon uttered that it’s not only MVP who is showing or expressing his interest in buying the Kapuso network.

“There were others who expressed interest,” he said.

But in line with that statement, he refused to drop names of who are interested to buy the said company.

Atty. Gozon said, “Of course, Filipino conglomerate.

“GMA is very attractive and desirable not only to MVP.

“If we receive an acceptable offer, then we will sell our entire stake in the company.”

There were no negotiations going on with those people who are showing their interest with the Kapuso network.

But Atty. Gozon admitted that MVP has expressed his interest with the network, long time ago.

“The first transaction did not push through but his interest remained.

“But the company remains very attractive and desirable not only to MVP.

“There were others that expressed interest.”

INCREASING OUR REACH. Meanwhile, Atty. Gozon together with GMA Network President Gilberto Duavit Jr., and GMA Network EVP and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, as they continue on planning and thinking of possible and good strategies on how to enlarge more the Kapuso network.

They are planning and proposing to expand more the reach of their network in certain provinces.

Mr. Duavit said that, “We are moving towards the rural areas and increasing our reach in Northern Mindanao and portions of the Visayas.

“We acknowledge that ABS-CBN is ahead in terms of the rural areas but they were 10 years ahead.

“If you look at the Philtam (total nationwide), the difference is a lot more encouraging than we expected.

“It is not an insurmountable difference. We are looking at winning even in rural areas this year.”

Photoshop Wars

As international singing sensation Charice Pempengco and Pambansang Kamao wife Jinkee Pacquio covers Preview and Mega, respectively, debate on which cover is edited better also came into rise.

It is very recognizable that Charice and Jinkee really look good in their respective magazine covers leaving people with doubt that the photos had been altered for good cover’s sake. True that all photos for magazine covers are edited but what the people are pointing out is that those of Charice’s and Jinkee’s are heavily ‘shopped to the point that it doesn’t look much like them anymore.

Jinkee’s Mega cover especially drew attention over social networking site, Twitter. Users have expressed their appreciations and disbeliefs on what they see in the cover. Some of the tweets are:

@ssowy: “There should be an anti-Photoshop law. RT @johnebora: This is Jinkee Pacquiao on the cover of MEGA Magazine.twitpic.com/8242lx”

@eloindigoart: “Someone give whoever transformed Jinkee Pacquiao into the woman in Mega magazine cover a PhD – galing ng pagka-doktor!”

As a result, Jinkee became one of the top trending local topics in twitter recently.

Although a lot of posts are expressing criticisms, there were also ones who appreciated Jinkee’s beauty.

@gladizon: “Jinkee Pacquiao looks like Kristine Hermosa.”

Mega Publishing Corp’s Cheryl Tiu aired her side of the issue over the same social networking site: “Jinkee Pacquiao was NOT photoshopped for MEGA. She’s really SIZZLING! The behind the scenes photo! @mega_magazine twitpic.com/824sty”

On the other hand, Veteran makeup artist Juan Sarte posted a video proving that Charice’s cover was not digitally altered. “Charice for Preview Behind the Scenes video. Eto ang pruweba. Hindi po yun Photoshop,” said Sarte providing a link to the video.

Tyron Perez’s Death is 80-90% Suicide

Many were shocked on the sudden death of Jojo Malonzo Perez, better known as Tyron Perez, whose body was found dead in his car parked in the NLEX service road in Barangay Ugong the night of December 29, 2011. Residents said that the black Toyota Altis, which is Tyron’s car, was already parked on the service road as early as 8 am but they did not checked on the car because they thought it was only parked.

Cops see suicide as reason for the actor’s death. Senior Inspector Arthur Quiñones, head of the investigation unit said that autopsy result showed that the cause of the actor’s death was the sole bullet that pierced through his right temple.

“If we had found other gunshot wounds in his body, then that would have been suspicious. But because there was only one … Nobody kills himself with two gunshots or more,” Quiñones said.

According to findings, there was tattooing, which refers to the red and black marks formed by burnt gun powder on the skin, in the right temporal region which leads the investigators to a conclusion that the gunshot found on the actor’s body was done at a very close range.

According to Police Officer 3 Harvey Aranas of the Valenzuela Police investigation unit, they are still looking for other angles but suicide is 80-90% possible.

Based on the initial police report, one of the possible reasons of Tyron’s alleged suicide is his financial problem due to gambling. According to reports of Doland Castro and Jerome Lantin of ABS-CBN News, the actor has a lot of debts because of his frequent stay in the casino. He even sold the car of his wife Liv Espino in order to pay his debts.

Aside from this, another angle that the investigative team has been looking into is the couple’s “marital problem.” Liv admitted that she and her husband had a problem regarding his gambling. But the flight attendant wife of Tyron never had imagined that it would come to a point that her husband would end his life this way.

Valerie Clarifies her Posts on Twitter

Twitter has become everybody’s online diary where they share each and every activity they have in line throughout the day. It is also where people post their opinions on certain issues concerning different matters.

Yesterday, another celebrity has become controversial on twitter. TV host-actress, Valerie Conception, created a huge noise on the social networking site. It was because of her posts about PNoy partying with PSG.

On her first post, she said: “I’m on my way to Malacañang..ü Will sing 2 songs there.. :) Tapos didiretso na ako sa World Trade Center after.. See you there! Booth 814″

It was followed by another post: “I’m here na sa Malacañang for the PSG Christmas Party..ü Ms. Jessa Zaragosa is here also.. :) 3 kanta pala ako dto.. Akala ko 2 lng..”

And with another one: “Done w/ work.. Tnx for having me.. :) It was nice to see Pres. P-Noy laughing at my jokes & enjoying my performance..ü #Malacañang #PSGNight”

Netizens of PNoy reacted violently on the said post. They were saying that the president is very insensitive to the condition of our fellow citizens in Mindanao who are devastated by Typhoon Sendong. They can’t believe how the president can afford to attend parties while 600 Filipinos died on the said calamity.

When Valerie knew about the buzz her tweets created, he immediately deleted her posts and released a clarification statement on the same twitter account.

“I just want to clarify that I was invited to perform at Malacañang’s Christmas Party for their employees with their husbands/wives and kids. Yes, the President attended the gathering. I do not see anything wrong with that since its his obligation and responsibility being the head of Malacañang to be present and show his support for his hardworking employees and their respective families. But I believe that it doesn’t mean that the president is not thinking of ways to help our kababayan(s) in Mindanao. It doesn’t mean that the president is disregarding the plight of our fellow Filipinos. Let’s not be too quick to judge. But if I, in any way, offended you guys and sounded insensitive, I am very sorry. It wasn’t my intention to do either. I can’t imagine how difficult life is for the people affected in Mindanao and how difficult it is to be the president of the Philippines at this moment. Once again, I am very sorry for all those people I have offended. May God bless us all.”

Annabelle Rama faces Nadia Montenegro at QCRTC

Annabelle Rama wasn’t able to control her emotions yesterday morning at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court where the clarificatory hearing took place for the cases filed by Nadia Montenegro against her.

The two parties arrived at the fiscal office at around 8:30 in the morning. They peacefully entered the office but Annabelle ended up shouting and cursing Nadia.

Annabelle wasn’t able to continue with the hearing. She explained herself as she rushes out of QRRTC.

“Kasi sinungaling siya, e. Deny siya nang deny sa fiscal. Tapos parang dinidiin niya ako. Sabi ko, ‘Magsabi ka ng totoo sa fiscal, wag kang magsinungaling! Kasi mga tanong kasi ni fiscal, hindi niya masagot-sagot. Sinungaling siya!” said Annabelle.

“Sabi ng fiscal kasi, ‘Dati kayong magkaibigan’. Sabi ko, ‘Wala akong kasalanan. Ang kasalanan ko lang, magbigay ng trabaho sa dalawang anak niya.’ Nandiyan ang mga bata, magdamag nagtatrabaho ‘yan, kumukuha siya ng pera.’ Sabi ko, ‘Bayaran mo ang utang mo sa akin!’ [Nadia said] wala siyang utang. Kapal ng mukha niya!” adds Annabelle.

When the press asked Nadia why Annabelle acted that way, she said: “Hindi ko alam. Basta bigla na lang siyang nagwala, na hindi ko na na-keep track kung ano’ng pinagsasabi niya.”

Nadia came to the court with her children to give additional evidences in the cases she filed against her children’s managers. She will file a motion where she asks Annabelle to bring the original contracts of her children for NBI examination. This is for the falsification of documents case that she filled against the manager. Aside from this, she will also submit some evidences showing Annabelle’s and her children’s text messages. According to her, Annabelle’s son- Richard Gutierrez, was also cursing her in text messages.

Ate Shawie is the Newest Kapatid

Megastar Sharon Cuneta’s transfer from ABS-CBN to TV5 has long been an issue which Megastar neither confirmed nor denied. Yesterday, November 22, 2011, the issue was proved to be right as TV5 employees welcome Sharon Cuneta as their newest Kapatid. Describing how she felt as she stepped foot in TV5 office at Marajo Tower in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig with a warm welcome by her new TV5 family, Sharon said that it was “mixed emotions.”

The Megastar signed a five- year-contract with the Kapatid Network inclusive of a daily TV show, a reality show, and a movie project. Present in the contract signing was TV5 President and CEO Atty. Ray Espinosa, TV5 COO Robert Barriero, Sharon Cuneta’s longtime manager Sandra Chavez and her other manager Vic del Rosario of Viva Artist Agency. However, TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan was not there during the contract signing. “MVP is supposed to be here but there’s too much Pangilinans already,” Sharon said as a joke.

Sharon Cuneta is rumored to have a 1 billion peso talent fee but when the press tried to confirm the issue, they just kept mum about it.

On the other hand, KC was clueless in her mom’s transfer of home network.

KC on the issue: “Wala pa po siyang [her mom] kinukuwento sa akin. Siguro hinihiwalay lang niya ‘yong… Whatever makes her happy, magiging masaya din ako.”

Meanwhile, the much awaited Vilma Santos-Sharon Cuneta movie will not push through yet. Both Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Star for All Season Vilma Santos were saddened on this postponement.

“Hindi ako matatahimik hangga’t hindi kami gumagawa ng movie together,” Sharon said.

“Ang mga proyekto there’s such a thing as right timing e. Pagka may mga obstacles na ganyan, huwag nating ituloy. Baka kasi hindi pa time yan. Pero definitely, and magandang balita is nakareserba yan,” Ate Vi explains.

As of now, Ate Shawie focuses her attention in her movie with Gerald Anderson, Enrique Gil, and Julia Montes under the direction of Laurenti Dyogi which will be showed in theaters next year.

Jolina Magdangal and Mark Escueta Ties the Knot!

Singer-actress Jolina Magdangal and Rivermaya Drummer Mark Escuta exchanged “I Dos” yesterday, November 21, 2011 at around five o’clock in the afternoon. The private Christian Wedding was held at Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club in Laurel, Batangas

The couple intentionally didn’t announced the exact date and place they are going to get married because they wanted the wedding to be a very private one.

The groom was evidently tensed as he waits for his bride before the wedding but experienced a sudden jolt of excitement as he sees Jolina walk down the aisle while Moonriver was playing in the background. Jolina can’t help but cry while she takes her steps to a new life with husband Mark Escueta.

The couple wasn’t able to prepare their wedding vows beforehand because there are no exact words that could ever be said to express their love for one another. They say their vows spontaneously, filled with all the emotions they are keeping inside their hearts. The wedding guests were very touched and moved with the vows the couple exchanged. Jolina and Mark’s happiness were so obvious at that time.

“Ikaw ang pinakamagandang regalo ni God,” said Jolina. “Sabi ko, sasabihin ko na lang kung anong nararamdaman ko para sa iyo. Lahat ng nandito, lahat ng in-invite natin dito, alam nila kung gaano kita kamahal,” she adds while tears run down her cheeks.

Jolina addresses Mark as her “bestfriend” and “kakampi.”

Mark’s wedding vow was likewise filled with emotions that he even cried as he says that Jolina is the light of his life.

The couple’s dream honeymoon trip is to Alaska for them to witness the famous Northern Light, also known as the Aurora- a very romantic natural light display in the sky which can be seen in high latitude regions. If this dream will come true right after the wedding, only Jolina and Mark knows.

Mark Gil and Jaclyn Jose: Excited Grandparents!

Veteran actor Mark Gil expresses his excitement to his grandchild with Andi Eigenmenn. It was reported months ago that after Andi wrote a blog regarding her baby’s father, Albie Casiño (father of Andi’s baby) and his mother Rhea Casiño requested the baby to undergo DNA test which Jaclyn Jose didn’t favor to. Same was the decision of Andi’s father, Mark Gil, on the issue.

“No way! DNA [test] my ass! Wala akong sama ng loob kahit kanino, wala naman akong kinalaman sa ibang tao. She’s ours, she’s an Eigenmann,” Mark Gil’s statement in Pep.ph.

Grandpa Mark Gil is very much excited to his granddaughter’s birth. It would be his first Christmas as a grandfather.

“Na-e-excite ako. Araw-araw ko siyang [Andi] tine-text. Tinatanong ko, ‘Kailan ba? Puwede ba bukas na?’ [Andi is giving birth] at the end of November, but according to Jaclyn, baka lumagpas pa. Sabi ko wag na, kailangan itong November na. I know my granddaughter will be a beautiful baby. I can’t wait, naiiyak na ako. Basta tawagan niya ako, dapat nandun ako sa hospital,” he said.

“She’s a gift, a blessing, that baby will be our princess. She’s an addition to our family, another Eigenmann, naiiyak na talaga ako,” he adds.

Meanwhile, Andi’s mother had an exclusive interview with Pep.ph after the story conference of TV5’s Valiente. When asked about Andi’s condition, she happily said that Andi’s doing great and is expecting her baby ‘anytime soon.’

“Sobra. Sobrang excited. Pati siya [Andi]. At the same time, ano na rin siya, inip. Ang laki na ng tiyan niya. She wants to have it ano na,” Jaclyn said.

Andi is expected to have a TV comeback early summer of 2012. She has already offers and is very much excited to work again.

When asked if she will be stricter to Andi as she goes back to work, Jaclyn said: “Wala. It will be the same, lalo na ngayong may anak na siya. She must know how to ano, di ba? Kung noon, nandiyan ako to guide her, ngayon medyo male-lessen yun. Kasi she has to grow up, she has to mature, she has to take care of her daughter. She has to know how to deal with life.”

“Sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Isang pagkakamali lang, ha? Sa pangalawa, magagalit na ako,’” she adds, talking about her daughter’s early pregnancy.
