LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao made spectacular public arrivals before cheering supporters on Tuesday, starting the countdown to their junior welterweight boxing showdown here on Saturday.
Pacquiao supporters jammed the hotel lobby at Mandalay Bay to cheer on the Philippines star while flag-waving Hatton backers chanted as the “Hitman” from England walked into a small ring set up in the MGM Grand Lobby.
With all the streneous workouts and trainings Pacquiao went through I think he will win this fight. Please pray for our hero, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao!
HOLLYWOOD – Manny Pacquiao hates lazy Sundays.
Ordered to stay home and rest, the Filipino superstar left his apartment very early in the morning, and with a tight crew went to Pan Pacific Park for a 30-minute run, including some wind sprints, shadow boxing and 1,200 crunches/sit-ups that would have made any ordinary athlete faint.
Pacquiao is already in tip-top shape for his coming fight with Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas on Saturday, and his conditioning coach, Alex Ariza, had wanted him to take it easy and not overdo things.
Manny has to have a rest for some time because too much workout is bad. I think Manny is ready for the big fight now. It shows in his sparring sessions.
HOLLYWOOD – Manny Pacquiao is calling on Gerry Peñalosa to hang up his gloves.
Pacquiao took it with a heavy heart after watching his dear friend drop a one-sided contest against reigning WBO super-bantamweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez Friday evening in the latter’s hometown in Puerto Rico.
“I felt so uneasy as early as the first round. My hands were sweating,” said Pacquiao as he emerged from the bedroom of his posh La Palazzo apartment where he caught a live coverage of the fight.
I think Manny Pacquiao wants to protect Gerry’s dignity as a friend and an avid fan. Sure enough, Manny is right, there’s nothing to prove, because we all know that Gerry is great.
MANILA, Philippines – The odds favoring Manny Pacquiao over Ricky Hatton went a notch higher barely four weeks left before their big match at the MGM Grand.
From -225 when the betting lines officially opened last Feb. 7, the hard-hitting Pacquiao is now a -250 favorite, meaning you need to put in $250 just to win a hundred bucks.
MANILA, Philippines – Popular British lightweight contender Amir Khan said the megafight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton on May 2 (May 3 in Manila) is going to be an even-steven bout.
“It is a 50-50 fight because both fighters are at the top of their game, they have had good, good wins in their previous fights. It is a 50-50 fight and I am just going to go there and enjoy the night,” Khan said in an interview with Sky Sports News.
