Sunshine Cruz, cover for FHM’s April ish

When showbiz couples break up, they’re no different from you and me—except for the fact that the public gets to know all the dirty details of their relationship. That’s exactly what happened to Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano.

In January this year, actress Cruz claimed that she discovered that a number of her gifts to her husband (which included an iPhone 5) were in the hands of Krista Miller. Miller is Montano’s co-star in the film Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story. Cruz publicized her discovery via Instagram. Shortly after that, it was reported that she and Montano were estranged.

Cruz and Montano have been married for 13 years and have three daughters. Cruz is 35, while Montano is 50. When she married him, she left behind her showbiz engagements, only taking on bit roles from time to time. She concentrated on being his wife.

Flying solo or still “up in the air”?

Alas, Cruz has said in more recent reports that she now considers herself a single mother. Though she didn’t directly say that she was giving up on Montano, pundits concluded that their marriage was practically over. Besides, it’s been said that Cruz and Montano are no longer living under one roof. Then again, there are also reports that say they’re back together.

Then, on March 26, FHM Philippines announced that Cruz was the cover girl of their April 2013 issue. She looks stunning in a dark one-shoulder swimsuit. This fueled the rumors that the Cruz and Montano were really calling it quits this time. Maybe only time will reveal the real score between them.

Sunshine admits leaving conjugal home

Sunshine Cruz isn’t ready to patch things up with husband Cesar Montano again, even if he expressed his wish to save their marriage following reports of his infidelity.

Asked if she has left the conjugal home, Sunshine’s short but meaningful reply at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies on Sunday, March 10, was “Yes.” Is she closing her doors on another reconciliation with Cesar? “I just want to be happy right now and do whatever I want to do na makakabuti para sa akin,” Sunshine answered.

The singer-actress stressed that she gave the marriage her all. “For now, I just have to move on and be happy,” she added.

Her Twitter name change. Netizens have also noted that Sunshine changed her Twitter name from Shine Montano to Sunshine Cruz. A note in the Shine Montano account reads: “Temporarily leaving this account, hopefully I’d be able to use this ‘surname’ again but if everything goes worse, I may leave it for good.”

Sunshine refused to comment on Cesar and starlet Krista Miller’s denial of their alleged affair. Despite her marital woes, Sunshine admits she still loves Cesar. However, she would rather focus on her children and career.

First love. “First love ko iyan eh. Yung love hindi naman mawawala iyan. Unang naging boyfriend ko po iyan eh. Pero sa totoo lang talaga, ang importante sa akin ngayon mahalin muna yung children ko at magtrabaho na lang muna, tutal ang daming dumadating na work.” Sunshine said she draws strength from God and her children. She may have given up her career for her family, but the comebacking actress has no regrets. “Hindi ko naman pinagsisihan iyon kasi alam ko na ginawa ko lahat for the relationship and I know that I gave my best, iyon ang importante talaga.”

It will be recalled that Sunshine confronted Krista on Twitter and Instagram after the latter posted photos of the gifts Cesar allegedly gave her.

Social media power. Cesar, on the other hand, reportedly blamed social media for highlighting their marital woes. But Sunshine disagrees. “Ang dami-daming tao at artista na nag-Twitter at Instagram, sisihin niya lahat.”

Part of her moving on involves focusing on her career. Sunshine is part of Ejay Falcon’s Kapamilya drama “Dugong Buhay.” “Parang naninibago ako, very supportive naman sa akin ang lahat. Siyempre, nami-miss ko rin talaga (ang showbiz). Dito naman ako nanggaling kaya iyon din ang binabalikan ko ngayon,” she said.

Cesar Montano Speaks About Issues

At the grand presscon for his upcoming film “Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story” held Feb. 12, Cesar Montano couldn’t bring himself to deny that his marriage with Sunshine Cruz is not without “problems” lately, though he stressed that he isn’t allowing it to get in the way of his “commitment” to focus on work.

“Kung ano man ‘yung naririnig nyo, kahit na gustuhin kong sumagot ay di ko kayang sumagot [dahil] naka-commit ako na ibigay ang lahat dito sa pag gawa ng pelikula. I can’t afford to find attention para ilagay dun [controversies] para gumulo…’di ko kayang makialam pa sa ibang bagay na alam kong ‘di makakatulong,” he said.

Recall that a few weeks back, Cesar and Sunshine hogged headlines after she posted messages and photos online that seemingly indicate not all is well between them due to an alleged involvement of a third party.

While some people have dipped their fingers in the issue, Cesar had remained silent about it until now.

“To be quite honest, naaapektuhan ako pero pinili kong mas mag-focus sa pelikula,” he said

The actor pointed out that no marriage is perfect – “lahat nagkakaroon ng problema,” as he puts it – but he and Sunshine are in the process of fixing everything.

In fact, Sunshine remains one of the executive producers of “Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story,” which means both she and Cesar sign the checks that are issued for the project.

He said that Sunshine is the one “na tumitingin ng lahat ng lumalabas, pumapasok at natitirang pera. That’s very important to me dahil ‘yung bagay na ‘yon, ‘di ko na kayang gawin being director, writer, actor and producer of and in this film all at the same time.

“Ang gumagawa non, kelangan pinagkakatiwalaan mong tao.”

Does that mean issuing checks to all cast members? All?

“Oo, lahat. [Kasi] kelangan talaga [na] may record [of payment]. May iba, ang kelangan cash…basta lahat ng nagtrabaho kelangang bayaran.”

Controversies aside, “Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story” looks to be one of the best films to hit the silver screen this season. The biopic based on the life of the incumbent Manila mayor will reveal the subject’s “softer,” “more human” side that few people have come to know, no thanks to his “tough guy” ala “Dirty Harry” reputation.

“Nakita ko ‘yung pagkatao niya (Lim) in doing this film. Nalaman na lang niya ang pagmamahal ng magulang nuong nakilala niya ang nanay ng nanay niya at the age of 12. Kaya pala siya ganyan katapang dahil na din sa hirap ng mga pagsubok na pinagdaanan niya sa buhay,” Cesar said.

“Alfredo S. Lim: The Untold Story” under CM Films will hit theaters nationwide on Feb. 27, with premiere night on Feb. 26 at SM Manila. Cesar said that they plan to enter this big-budgeted film in film festivals abroad.

Montano Denies Snubbing OMB Chairmanship

Seems like the actor, Cesar Montano didn’t actually discard the Optical Media Board (OMB) chairmanship as reported.

According to the actor, there was just a “misunderstanding” over the issue and that all is still up in the air.

“Inaayos namin, pero hindi ako uupo muna… hindi muna,” he said in a recent interview. “Nagkaroon lang ng misunderstanding.”

Seemingly, there is still an enduring talk of another “appointment” but Montano is silent as to what that means, only observing that, “mas effective ako sa ibang parte. Like arts and culture, gano’n.”

In addition, Montano said that leading the OMB is not his “cup of tea.”

“Maraming mas bagay sa trabahong ‘yan,” he asserted. “In the first place, hindi naman kailangang artista diyan.”

Montano argued that it’s all a substance of personal judgment, as to what exactly is his stand regarding piracy. “There are no outside solution. There are only inside solution when it comes to that,” he uttered.

“The problem is us, we’re all sinners, we’re all guilty of doing that. Iyan po ang katotohanan,” he added.

President Benigno Aquino III was the one who selected Montano to the Optical Media Board (OMB) early this year.

As a replacement of the musician and board member, John Philip Lesaca, Montano was initially chosen to a term expiring on March 5, 2013. Talks of Montano supposing the chairmanship position just raiced lately.

Ronnie Ricketts is currently the head of OMB, a friend of Montano.

“Nagkausap na kami [about the appointment],” Montano said. “Ganoon din sinabi ko sa kanya. Sabi ko, kayang-kaya na niya ‘yun.”

Temporarily, Montano had forbidden proposals that he had a falling out with GMA executives, which supposedly guided him to not renew his contract with the entertainment giant.

“No, no… I have finished my contract with GMA-7. [But] I’m happy with the way they treated me,” he said. “Wala akong masasabi but thank you very much to GMA-7, Atty. [Felipe] Gozon, to Jimmy Duavit and to Shirley Pizarro, my manager na nag-alaga sa akin nung nandoon pa ako,” he added.

He confessed, though, that there were arranged projects that didn’t exactly push through during his term with the network.

“Ah, well, dapat meron kaming gagawin, pero hindi na muna natuloy. May offer naman sila, eh. But right now, gusto kong mag-focus sa pelikula [with Viva, his new management team],” he supposed.

Montano revealed that he is considering over the prospect of joining TV5 if only to be able to work with his buddy, actor Aga Muhlach again.

“Puwede, bakit hindi? I’d love to work with Aga again. Lalo na kung noontime show, comedy, o sitcom,” he alleged.

Iza Calzado teams up with Cesar Montano in a new sitcom

Iza Calzado has a new weekly sitcom with Cesar Montano after continuing portraying the role of Tonette/Tonya (Regina Velasquez’s) in the comedy series I ♥ You Pare that will end this coming Friday (May 27), .

Cesar Montano to replace Robin Padilla as guest host on Wowowee?

Robin Padilla’s hosting stint on ABS-CBN’s noontime show Wowowee will end this Friday and Cesar Montano was reportedly offered to pick up where the former left off.

The award-winning actor confirmed that he has been offered to host the said show for 2 weeks but he needs more details before deciding. “… I have to hear pa ‘yung development kung kailan ako papalit or what,” he said. The network has yet to make a final decision on Cesar’s hosting of Wowowee.

Jobert Sucaldito: I respect ABS-CBN’s decision on Willie

MANILA, Philippines – Entertainment columnist and host Jobert Sucaldito said Tuesday he respects the decision reached by the management of ABS-CBN and Willie Revillame after their closed-door meeting Monday.

“Ako kasi ang laging posisyon ko dito is that whatever ang maging desisyon ng management, we will have to respect it kasi they know better,” Sucaldito said.

Sucaldito’s alleged constant criticisms were the source of Revillame’s latest ire that led to the controversial “Wowowee” host resigning from the program.

In their Monday meeting, Revillame apologized to the ABS-CBN management for his on-air outburst on May 4 over his rift with Sucaldito.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by ABS-CBN, Revillame also apologized for his failure to report to work since May 5. In turn, ABS-CBN management accepted Revillame’s apology.

Both parties also agreed that Revillame would take an indefinite break effective immediately, but his contract obligations with ABS-CBN will hold. This disallows him to perform similar work for any person or entity in direct competition with ABS-CBN.

The statement said that at some point, ABS-CBN management and Revillame will discuss what will be in the best interest of the viewing public.

ABS-CBN News asked Revillame for an interview, but the host declined.

Robin Padilla has temporarily replaced Revillame, but he is set to step down as host on Friday. When sought for reaction, Padilla said: “Tayo po ay nandito para huwag pong maapektuhan [ang saya] na dinudulot ng ‘Wowowee.’”

On Tuesday, Cesar Montano told abs-cbnNEWS.com that he has received an offer to host “Wowowee” for 2 weeks, similar to Padilla’s stint. ABS-CBN, however, has not made a final decision on whether Montano would take over as host.
