MANILA, Philippines – Coming straight from an out-of-town shoot, Gabby Concepcion was a bit late by the time he arrived on the set of “Sharon” for the taping of the show’s 2-part special episode with former wife Sharon Cuneta and daughter KC Concepcion last Monday.
It was the first time that the three of them were seen together in public, and the studio audience couldn’t help but scream with delight particularly when Gabby and Sharon would tease each other both on and off cam.
This was no doubt a big step for the former couple, who at one time wouldn’t even mention each other’s names during interviews.
“I enjoyed it also. I think this is the beginning of something good. Today’s special for all of us, the three of us, kasi nga it turned our lives around,” Gabby admitted in an interview with ABS-CBN’s entertainment reporters.
It didn’t come as a surprise to him when KC got emotional during the show because he knew how much his daughter wanted him and Sharon to be on good terms again.
“We were on the set when she started to cry. I felt that this was something for her, not only because we did a movie (I’ll Be There), but for me and Sharon to be together in front of her, that she hasn’t seen for many, many years. Kasi for more than 13 years na wala ako, actually more, mga 20 years na ata, hindi kami nag-uusap ni Sharon. But now that we’re all here in the Philippines and KC saw us together finally in the same show, it makes her really feel good that we’re already okay,” he said.
But when asked if it’s possible for him to do a movie with both KC and Sharon, Gabby explained that he’s not sure if such plans would push through anytime soon.
“That’s what I heard. Sinabi nga ni Sharon kanina sa show niya so nagulat din ako na merong ganoong move [or] speculations siguro. People ask me, wala naman ako masagot. It would be nice kasi maraming Sharon-Gabby [fans] ang nagtatanong kung pwedeng gumawa kami ng pelikula ulit. Sabi ko nga, ‘Yeah, it’s a nice dream pero we don’t know if it’s ever going to happen, so let’s see.’”
Meantime, Gabby can’t wait for the moviegoers to see his upcoming movie with KC, saying it will inspire a lot of parents who have lost touch with their children.
“Ang ganda ng feeling kasi magkasama kami sa iisang pelikula and we got the chance to bond as father and daughter both on and off cam. Parang gift na rin ito para kay KC because she really wanted to do a movie with her papa, so that’s really special for me. At the same time, we are hoping that it would touch people’s hearts kaya sana panoorin nila ito in time for Father’s Day celebration,” he beamed.

Siyempre sino ba naman ang hindi dahil ang alam natin sa kanya okay siya. Sana nga yung friendship nila mas tumibay pa and I hope tuloy-tuloy yung friendship nila,” he replied.
