The much awaited wedding of the year has come into reality last January 22, 2012 when Shalani Soledad exchanged ‘I dos’ with Roman Romulo. The exchange of vows happened at the St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The wedding mass was presided by His Eminence Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales.
In the Cardinal’s homily, he said that the couple was brought together neither by “economic welfare” nor by “political status,” hence by love.
He adviced Shalani and Roman to be “kind,” “patient,” “understanding,” “not to be jealous,” and most of all “do what God calls you to do.”
As part of Shalani’s wedding vow, she said: “You are my home. You are my happiness…”
On the other hand, Roman told his bride: “I waited 44 years before God gave me this favor.”
The bride walked down the aisle alone at first but was accompanied halfway by his brother who was the instrument to bring Shalani in the world of politics. Next was his biological father. And the last man who walked with her down the aisle was his stepfather, Dan Yumol.
Among the celebrities who witnessed the wedding ceremony were Senator Bong Revilla with wife Lani Mercado, Richard Gomez with wife Lucy Torres, Mariel Rodriguez, Migz Zubiri with wife Audrey, Valerie Concepcion, and Marco Alcaraz with girlfriend Precious Lara Quigaman.
The program was short and the 800 guests enjoyed the sumptuous food which was prepared by Florabel Catering.
