Nilabag umano ng Journey’s Lead Singer ang Republic Act (RA) 8491 (The Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines), hindi daw umano sinunod ni Pineda and tamang tono and kumpas sa pag-awit ng “Lupang Hinirang”.
International artist Lea Salonga has refused to take sides on the issue involving Martin Nievera.
SINGING the national anthem in one of the future fights of world’s boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest dreams of international singing icon Charice Pempengco.

MANILA, Philippines - Lawmakers on Tuesday moved to have the law on how the national anthem should be sung reviewed after Martin Nievera’s rendition during the Pacquiao-Hatton boxing match drew flak over the weekend.
MANILA, Philippines — Singer Martin Nievera was being “artistic and creative” and not irreverent when he sang the Philippine national anthem in Manny Pacquiao’s historic match with Ricky Hatton, a lawmaker said on Tuesday.
MANILA, Philippines – Singer Martin Nievera on Monday said his version of the national anthem only reflected the “march feel” that the song originally had. Besides, Nievera said it was boxing legend Manny Pacquiao who had asked him to sing the anthem that way.
People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao might have overlooked international singing sensation Charice when he chose another artist to sing “Lupang Hinirang” in his May 2 match. Still, the Filipino pint-sized singer was given the privilege to sing the national anthem of another country, the United States.
