Manny Pacquiao ang “Ninong ng Bayan”

July 16, 2011, Saturday night at AFP Theater is the start of the newest game show of GMA-7 entitled Manny Many Prices. The host of the said show is none other than the Pambansang Kamao ng Pilipinas and Sarangani congressman, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. He is also one of those who think of the title’s concept and also the co-producer of his own show.

According to Manny, this is his long dream show where he can give help to his fellow people.

He said: “Masaya ako na makakapagbigay tulong tayo sa marami nating kababayan.

In Manny Pacquiao’s interview, you can see his excitement when he is discussing his show.

This is the successor of his former show with Marian Rivera, Show Me Da Manny.

He said: “Matagal ko nang pangarap na ganitong show. Nakakatulong tayo sa kapwa. Masaya dahil nangyari na nga itong show na pangarap ko at pangarap din ng mga tao na matulungan sila,”

They said, the show really fits Manny because even off-cam, he give games and big prizes to his staffs. In fact, before the press conference, Manny shares some cash prizes to his motorcade team. That’s why they called Manny as their “Ninong ng Bayan”.

Manny did not reject that few of his co-stars like Paolo Contis, Onyok Velasco, at Gladys Guevarra is his handpicked.

Beside Onyok, Paolo, and Gladys. Rhian Ramos and Izabelle Daza were also included in the show Manny Many Prizes.

According to Manny there are no problem regarding with his show in case he has a fight or if he needs training.

“Wala namang problema yun dahil kailangan nating i-maximize ang time natin, Kailangan lang ng time management sa show na ‘to. Kailangan na ako talaga ang nandito palagi sa show na ito dahil ako mismo ang mamimigay ng cash prizes and also house and lot.” He said.

This November, Manny is expected to fight with Manuel Marquez for the third time. And September is the start of his training.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. expressed his feelings that he is ready for his next fight. But according to Manny: “Pagdating siguro ng panahon, hindi ngayon. May laban din siya. May laban din ako. Baka next year, matuloy.”

Manny is always supported by his loving wife, Jinkie Pacquiao especially to his upcoming Show. He said: “Suportado naman niya ako dahil ito’y tulong para sa ating mga kababayan at maganda naman itong ginagawa natin.”

Manny’s four children are still young but as early as now, Manny instill his children to be helpful to their fellowmen. Manny also believe to living by example. “Siyempre kung sa paglaki ng mga anak ko, barumbado, hindi naman ang mga anak ko ang may kasalanan no’n kung hindi kaming mga magulang. Ang mga magulang ang may kasalanan kung nagiging barumbado dahil hindi tama ang pagpapalaki,”

And according to Manny, he doesn’t see any potential among his children in following his footsteps and become a boxer.

He also didn’t allow his wife Jinkie to be in showbiz because according to him, if Jinkie will be entering showbiz, their children and their business will be forsaken. And there is no reason to be with showbiz because they already have their own business.

Manny Pacquiao

People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao is very thankful to his wife Jinkee for forgiving Krista Ranillo. Manny was allegedly secretly dating Krista when they were paired in their movie “Wapakman” in 2009.

The rumor spreaded that triggered a fight between Manny and Jinkee after his victory over Miguel Cotto.

Last year, Krista married Jefferson Niño Lim, Island Pacific supermarket boss. She recently gave birth to their baby boy.

Jinkee’s statement on The Buzz about forgiving sexy actress Krista Ranillo:
Matagal na rin kasi na panahon na nangyari ‘yon. So, parang kinalimutan ko na rin ‘yon. Tsaka napatawad ko na lahat kung sino man ‘yong nakasakit sa akin. Parang naka-move on na rin ako.”

The wife of People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao, Jinkee Pacquiao admitted that she declined the offer on appearing live at the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Jinkee explained herself on why she refused to guest at the said show saying:

Kasi live, sabi ko, ayoko yung live. Kasi first time kong yung magge-guest sa Amerika, sa CBS pa, tapos live. Tapos siyempre, English yun, so baka mag-nosebleed ako!

She also confessed that she’s feeling bad for not agreeing to guest on the show because she might say something not true or good. She admits that she is not very fluent in speaking English and she’s afraid to be criticized.

Pacquiao won via unanimous decision in his fight with Mosley

Manny Pacquiao

The whole world stopped again as millions of people witnessed the Pacquiao-Mosley fight yesterday (May 8 ) at MGM Grand Arena Las Vegas which had 16,412 audiences according to the gate receipts.

As expected, our People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao defeated the American boxer Shane Mosley. After the 12-round fight, the judges scored 119-108, 120-108, and 120-107 which made Manny won via unanimous decision.

Though the fight reached until 12 rounds, most of the people are still disappointed because of the lack of action inside the ring. While Manny continue to release punches, Mosley keeps on withdrawing to avoid having serious damages. According to a boxing expert, there were only 5 combos released by Mosley through the entire fight.

One of the most exciting parts of the fight was the knockdown of Mosley in third round after receiving a straight left from Manny. In round 10, Manny fell down that made referee Kenny Bayless gave the champion a standing eight count. But you would obviously see in the slowmo that it wasn’t a knockdown but a slip after Mosley pushed Pacquiao.

In the post-fight interview, Manny admitted that it wasn’t his best performance.  “It wasn’t my best performance. I did my best. I did not expect this result,” he said.

Then Mosley said, “I fought the best fighter in the world. He has exceptional power, power that I’ve never been hit like this before. He won the fight, he’s fast and unpredictable. He’s the pound-for-pound king for a reason. I fell short. Pacquiao throws different types of punches. His punches did not seem hard, but they were.” Mosley fought as he was trying to protect his legacy of having never been stopped and it succeeded. But it made for a lackluster fight and did nothing to burnish the legacy that the Filipino champion has built with 14 straight wins over the last six years — including some over some of the biggest names in the game.

Pacquiao wore yellow gloves as a symbol of his battle against poverty here in the Philippines, made a minimum of $20 million for the fight. Mosley was guaranteed $5 million who has only won two of his last six fights.

Congratulations once again to our People’s Champ for making us Filipinos proud!

Manny Pacquiao will wear a yellow gloves to fight poverty!

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will battle fist to fist with “Sugar” Shane Mosley to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship belt. It will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7, 2011(Saturday) at 9:00 p.m and will be broadcast here in the Philippines on May 8, 10:00am.

The moment our People’s Champ step into the boxing ring wearing yellow gloves, he will not be fighting with Mosley only but also for our country’s poverty. It  is a first time in boxing history to wear a yellow gloves because the traditional color used by boxers are red, blue, or burgundy.

Chino Trinidad was able to interview Manny Pacquiao last Thursday on News to Go and Pacman said that he chose the color yellow “to signify the unity of the Filipino people across the globe.” Boxing is not the biggest fight of my life, eradicating poverty is now the biggest fight of my life”, Manny said.

Trinidad also spilled that Pacquiao is encouraging all the people who will watch his fight against Mosley to wear something yellow too as a sign of the unity of the Filipinos to battle against poverty.

The foreign media thought that it was “the most eloquent speech” they have ever heard from a boxer as they covered Pacquiao’s presscon in Las Vegas.

“Coming from him who barely made it to high school, at laging pinagtatawanan dahil sa kaniyang balu-baluktot na English, ipinarating ni Manny ang kaniyang mensahe na hindi niya titigilan ang kaniyang laban sa kahirapan,” Trinidad said.

It is very essential for Manny to fight against poverty because he was one of the poor families born in General Santos City and was raised by his mother alone after his parents separated. He wasn’t able to fiish high school due to tremendous poverty.

Manny Pacquiao

Pacquiao is a man who wears many hats, meaning that he has many roles in life. Apart from being a boxing champion and a congressman, he is also an actor, singer, husband and father. And now, his new role is a “fighter” of poverty.

Be sure to watch and support our People’s champ as he defends his title from Mosley and fight against our poverty this Sunday!

The world boxer’s mom said that the ring might slip on her finger when she was in General Santos City in Sarangani last Friday, April 2.

World boxer Pacman’s mom’s been keeping the ring for almost eleven years which was given by her daughter-in-law Jinky Pacquiao.

She tried to look for the ring last Saturday but she failed, that’s why she just asked if anybody could find it. She prepared a reward for the person who could bring the ring back to her.

Despite the loss of her expensive ring, Mommy Dionisia wouldn’t ask her son Manny Pacquiao a replacement.

Pacquiao loses over Mayweather on Yahoo!

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao may have won a seat in Congress but Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s performance against Shane Mosley made him lose his pound-for-pound top ranking in Yahoo! Sports.
According to the Yahoo! Sports list issued by its boxing reporter Kevin Iole, Mayweather outpointed Pacquiao by 6 points in voting conducted by an elite panel of boxing writers from around the world.
Mayweather, who is Ring Magazine’s No. 2 pound-for-pound fighter, received 20 off the 33 first place votes for a total of 317 points while Pacquiao received 13 of 33 first places votes for 310.
In his analysis, Iole said Mayweather “showed complete game in [his] convincing win over Mosley.”
Pacquiao, however, still enjoys Ring Magazine’s No. 1 pound-for-pound ranking.
Iole, meanwhile, said in his report that he hopes the camps of Pacquiao and Mayweather will thresh out their differences to finally arrange the biggest fight to date.
“Hopefully, [Top Rank chief Bob] Arum, [Golden Boy chief Richard] Schaefer, Pacquiao advisor Michael Koncz, Mayweather advisor Al Haymon and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe can work out a deal to make it happen,” he said.
Rounding off Yahoo! Sports pound-for-pound list are:
Paul Williams (No. 3)
Juan Manuel Marquez (No. 4)
Chad Dawson (No. 5)
Sergio Martinez (No. 6)
Wladimir Klitschko (No. 7)
Timothy Bradley (No. 8 )
Shane Mosley (No. 9)
Juan Manuel Lopez (No. 10).

Manny Pacquiao rushed in the hospital

World welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao was admitted to hospital to treat a mild stomach ulcer and allow him to rest after campaigning for the May 10 congressional elections.
Pacquiao’s chief of staff, Jayke Joson, said Monday that doctors discovered the 31-year-old boxer had an ulcer during a routine checkup Sunday and his family convinced him to stay in a suburban Manila hospital for a few days.
“Really, Manny can only rest if you confine him to a hospital,” Joson told The Associated Press, adding Pacquiao was receiving intravenous dextrose drips. “It’s been so intense a campaign, he missed some of his meals.”
Pacquiao’s boxing promoters are working toward a possible bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr., or another fighter, as early as November.
Pacquiao’s mother, Dionisia, told The AP her son was well and may be discharged from the hospital later Monday or Tuesday.
Pacquiao won a seat in the Philippine’s powerful House of Representatives, which he will assume on June 30. Aside from preparing to enter the political arena, Pacquiao is yet to complete advertisements for products ranging from food to sports items, Joson said.
Promoter Bob Arum has said he’ll soon start talking to Mayweather’s camp about putting together the world’s top two welterweights for a Nov. 13 bout in Las Vegas or Texas.
Arum said he hoped to match Pacquiao against former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito if talks with Mayweather fall through.

The People’s Champ was Taken to the Hospital

MANILA, Philippines – World boxing champion Manny Pacquiao was taken to a hospital on Sunday for a stomach ailment, but his lawyer said it was not serious and that he would likely be out the next day.

Pacquiao, who was recently elected as a legislator, was taken to a suburban hospital in Manila after feeling pains in his stomach, said lawyer Jesus Gacal.

“It was just his usual acid reflux. The doctor told me there is nothing to worry about,” Gacal told AFP.

“There was even no need for him to be confined but he wanted to take a rest after the (election) campaign,” the lawyer added.

He said Pacquiao had suffered from this stomach problem before.

The 31-year-old fighter, who was elected on May 10 to represent the impoverished southern province of Sarangani, has been preparing to take up his post in the Philippine parliament.

Boxing promoters are also working to arrange a bout between Pacquiao and American Floyd Mayweather in November, to settle once and for all the fighters’ claim to be the best fighter, pound-for-pound, of his generation.

Pacquiao has said he can handle the simultaneous burdens of being a legislator and training for a major fight, remarking that this required only proper “time management.”

Boxing victories as well as his commercial endorsements last year made Pacquiao the world’s sixth-highest paid athlete, with earnings of 40 million US dollars, according to Forbes magazine. (read more on AFP and Yahoo Philippines News!)
