International artist Lea Salonga has refused to take sides on the issue involving Martin Nievera.
Nievera has been the subject of criticisms following his “incorrect” rendition of the Philippine national anthem during the Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton bout in Las Vegas last May 2.
Lea has been the crowd’s favorite ever since she started in showbiz. I admire her powerful voice and our country is so proud of her when she became a part of Miss Saigon. Hope to see more of her again.

Martin’s rendition of our National Anthem is good though some say it was fast or it wasn’t right. He did his best. I still idolize him for being a good person.

For me the rendition of Martin Nievera to Lupang Hinirang sounds good, I dont think it will affect the filipinos to be less nationalistic.

The most important thing is, theres no rivalry between Jomari and Martin Nievera. Martin Nievera recently had a duet with Pops Fernandez in her concert.
With all the bad vibes momentarily being set aside, Martin and Pops recorded a duet of “Goodbye Girl” – a 1978 hit ballad written and originally recorded by former Bread lead singer David Gates and theme song of the movie of the same title, starring Richard Dreyfus and Marsha Mason.
I’m sure all will agree that work life and personal life should not be taken as one. Although its hard to separate them. They will go far if they stay this way.
