MANILA, Philippines – Did Dionisia Pacquiao, mom of People’s Champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao, secretly rejoice after her idol singer, Imelda Papin, lost in her bid for a Senate seat?
That seemed to be the case after Mommy Dionisia, as she is now popularly known, confessed that she was saddened by the thought that she had to abandon her dream to become a recording singer if her idol won in the last elections.
“Kapag natuloy siyang nanalo na senator, paano na lang ako? Sabi ko naputol na ang show namin. Hindi namin ako puwedeng mag-isa lang, hindi ako sanay diyan. Lord, salamat hindi naputol ang ugnayan naming dalawa,” she laughingly told ABS-CBN News.
Mommy Dionisia made this confession in front of Papin herself, who threw a post-birthday party for the Pacmom at a Thai restaurant in Eastwood City.
Papin was supposed to attend Mommy Dionisia’s birthday party in General Santos City. She was absent during the event to attend to her ailing father in the United States.
Papin, for her part, merely laughed off the declaration as she joked that Mommy Dionisia’s apprehension probably contributed to her defeat.
During the interview, Papin disclosed that her duet with Mommy Dionisia is set to be released in the Philippines in about 2 weeks. They will also go around the Philippines and US for a series of shows, the singer added.
“Suprise ko kay Mommy D [yan] ngayong birthday niya. Talagang full-pledged recording artist [na siya] the moment na ilabas na, ipa-tugtog sa radyo [ang kanta namin]. Recording artist na talaga si Mommy,” Papin said.
It looks like Mommy Dionisia’s dream is now within her reach.
