Early this morning, May 21, 2009 at about 1:30, actor Richard Gutierrez injured in a car accident happened at Sta Rosa Road in Tagaytay City. The report said that Gutierrez was driving and may have over-sped while traversing a semi-curved road before crashing onto a post. The road was said to be a accident prone and that time, the area was so dark that cause their vehicle to crashed.
The initial report from Puting Kahoy Police Station in Silang said that Gutierrez, with his two companions were on their way to Manila after his shooting when the accident happened. It was confirmed by the former beauty queen that one of her brother’s companion, identified as Norman Pardo, was declared dead on arrival at Adventist University of the Philippines.
Gutierrez and his bodyguard, initially identified as George Mastura were immediately rushed to Olivares Hospital. The actor was then moved to Asian Hospital in Alabang. Ruffa his sister said that the actor has a long deep cut near the eye and eyebrow which required more than 10 stitches. Small cuts on his face were also stitched. The report said that the actor is now out of danger but still traumatized.
Entertainment Web site Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) branded as an “affront to press freedom” the cease-and-desist letter sent by the camp of Annabelle Rama in connection with its coverage of her son and talent, Richard Gutierrez.
“There is no other way to say it. This is an affront to free press. It is cavalier about free speech. It totally misrepresents the nature of public figures and it is dismissive of public’s right to know,” PEP’s editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon wrote in an article uploaded on PEP Saturday.

Sa Chika Minute portion ng “24 Oras” nitong Miyerkules, sinabing hindi pa umano natatanggap ng abogado ni PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon ang kopya ng reklamo ni Richard kaugnay sa umano’y gulong nangyari sa kanila ng aktor na si Michael Flores.
Kinasuhan ni Richard ang PEP dahil hindi umano totoo ang lumabas na istorya sa Web site na nag-away sila ni Michael sa isang birthday party.
MANILA, Philippines – Kahit nagbigay na ng public apology ang editor-in-chief ng Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP), itutuloy pa rin ni Richard Gutierrez ang planong pagsampa ng kaso laban sa showbiz Web site.
“Napag-isipan ng buong pamilya na itutuloy namin ang lawsuit against PEP,” sabi ni Richard sa isang panayam nitong Linggo sa “Showbiz Central.”
Talent manager Annabelle Rama threatened to file a lawsuit against entertainment Web site Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) for uploading an article with wrongful information about son Richard Gutierrez.
PEP reported that Gutierrez allegedly pointed a gun at actor Michael Flores during a fight that purportedly took place at Zorro director Mark Reyes’ birthday party.
PEP editor-in-chief Jo-Ann Maglipon has already made a public apology but Rama was not satisfied. Read more…
