MANILA, Philippines – Action star Robin Padilla defended Luis Manzano, John Lloyd Cruz and Billy Crawford, collectively known as “Kanto Boys,” from criticisms that surfaced after they replaced the action star on “Wowowee.”
Critics said Padilla was a better host compared to Manzano, Cruz and Crawford.
Padilla said he should not be compared to the three young guest hosts, noting that they have different styles of hosting.
“Ako ay matanda, ang mga ‘Kanto Boys‘ ay mga bata. Talagang magkaiba po ‘yon. Kaya kung ikukumpara nila ang ‘Kanto Boys’ sa akin ay huwag po sana dahil magkaiba po talaga kami ng style,” Padilla said.
Padilla, who was also criticized while hosting “Wowowee,” appealed to all televiewers to accept “Kanto Boys” the way they accepted him when he was the guest host of the hit afternoon program.
The action star hosted “Wowowee” for 2 weeks only. In his previous interview, Padilla said he was open to hosting “Wowowee” permanently.
Padilla, who is now preparing for his 2 films, admitted that he already missed the show, particularly its female hosts.
“Ayoko lang po kasi na masabi ng tao na ako po ay nang-agaw. Gusto ko lang po talaga ay isang malinaw na usapan,” Padilla said.
Mariel-Zanjoe break-up
A now single Padilla also distanced himself from Mariel Rodriguez and Zanjoe Marudo’s break up.
Padilla, who is being romantically linked to Rodriguez, said he is in no position to comment on the issue. He also hoped that Rodriguez and Marudo would be able to iron things out.
